A bigger problem than Mr. Trumps policy ideas was his tone. Though Silicon Valley has well-known problems with diversity in its work force, people here pride themselves on a kind of militant open-mindedness. It is the kind of place that will severely punish any deviations from accepted schools of thought...

"a kind of militant open-mindedness" AND "severely punish any deviations from accepted schools of thought"
Only a liberal maroon (but I repeat myself) could make any sense of that.

Yeah, I couldn’t connect those dots either.

Only a liberal could say something so stupid.
They are militantly closed minded.

Given that soon-to-be-infamous dinner party held by President Obama and the CEO's of Apple, Cisco Systems, Facebook, Google, Netflix, Oracle, Twitter and Yahoo! back on February 17, 2011, no wonder why Silicon Valley is very upset at Peter Thiel. ESPECIALLY ever since he helped Hulk Hogan take down the Gawker media company.

Crony capitalists is what these corporations are. About five years ago I heard that since the very early days of Google the US government has had government employees ensconced in Google buildings working somewhat separated from the regular employees.

I’m sure glad that was the first response. Self contradictory, not the first for a journalist.

As a black guy in Silicon Valley, I just find it very hard to support a candidate who has been called racist
Doesn't matter if he IS racist. Just that he's been called racist. Hillary's ideal voter. She hopes 50+% of the voters are that stupid and that her $billion lets her reach them with lies.

Trump could not have the success he has had, were this accusation true. His hiring of minorities is proof.

Only a liberal buffoon from the Slimes could write such a piece and not see the colossal hypocrisy in such a statement.

It has “problems with diversity” only if you don’t count people from India, China, Vietnam, Russia, etc.
In sitting on Castro St. in Mountain View having lunch right now. If you speak Hindi or Mandarin, you fit right in.
The “lack of diversity” claim is utter hogwash. You are welcomed at any company here if you are well educated, success-oriented, a team player, and willing to work hard. Those criteria exclude a wide swath of “the right kind of diverse” people.
To: 867V309
Why is lack of diversity a “problem” when Whites, Jews and Asians are smarter than Blacks and Hispanics?

And even Hispanics--like the Irish Catholics by the 1880's--are rapidly climbing up the social and economic ladder. In fact, blacks are going end up being left behind again as another ethnic group blows past them.
But getting back on topic, Thiel is scaring the daylights out of Silicon Valley because he very well knows the strong connections between Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter and Yahoo! and the Democratic Party.

And even Hispanics--like the Irish Catholics by the 1880's--are rapidly climbing up the social and economic ladder. The difference is that Irish Catholics climbed the ladder without "diversity" quotas to help them, nor were they demanding that the rest of America pander to them by speaking in Gallic.

“Gallic” should be “Gaelic” in my last post (i.e. I was talking about Irish, not Gauls)
