Pregnant women, children and even elderly Venezuelans crossed into Colombia on Sunday after the border was temporarily reopened, allowing them to buy basic foods and toiletries -- rare commodities in their home country.
Tearful Venezuelans had gone weeks without basic food items like milk, flour and toilet paper. It's a sad but common part of daily life today in crisis-ridden Venezuela, a country that has the world's largest proven reserves of oil. Colombian officials estimate that about 100,000 Venezuelans crossed the border.
Venezuela is expected to dive deeper into the abyss this year, according to new projections published Wednesday by the International Monetary Fund.

Actually you had a good point. And I am only armchair quarterbacking. :)
Now more than ever, they need outside entities to help the develop their economy and get it back on track again. Unfortunately, like all socialists/communist governments they refuse to admit failure to their own demise.
socialism = economic chaos + tyranny + impoverishment
I bet if you followed up with these people most of them would say they wish Chavez was back in power. They are probably incapable of making the connection between socialism and their predicament, thinking instead it’s all the fault of that incompetent bus driver guy. He is indeed a complete failure, but fares worse because he lacks Chavez’s charm and the high oil prices that were buoying up the economy.
Poor people rely on high calorie starchy foods...............
***Clint Eastwood brand. It’s rough, it’s tough, and it doesn’t take sh*t off of anybody.***
Sounds like the brand we had in the military. Also slick, but that is what you get with a low bid contract. Most of us kept a private stock of good quality bought in town.
Same for soap. Mostly grease and would not take dirt off anyone.
Thanks. Stole me a new tagline.
There's now a Donald Trump brand:
It's rough, it's tough, it doesn't take $hit off anybody...and if you complain about it, it will rip you a new a$$hole!
Oooh! Another one!
“Socialism’s inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

Elect Hillary, and Venezuela will have a standard of living equal to the United States!
Pawn shops on the Colombian side must be making a killing.
While I think that this is a legend as to Gorbachev but is true for his successor of Boris Yeltsin in 1989 although prior to becoming Russia's leader. Still it does reflect the ingrained Russian skepticism. Remember that Reagan's precept of "Trust but Verify" was actually based upon a Russian old saying; "doveryai, no proveryai" that he used when he had his summits with Gorbachev.
Russian distrust of authority dates way back in history to at least Tsar Catherine II (the Great) and her chief minister Grigory Potemkin (1787). As you might understand from the name, Potemkin set up fake villages in the newly conquered Crimea to impress the Tsar with how good life was becoming during an investigation trip. Thus the term Potemkin Village refers to fake goods and deception.
Maybe it was Yeltsin- I wasn’t 100% sure
One of the things that brought down the Soviet Union was the TV series Dallas. Although Soviets accepted that the whole rich family thing was contrived, they were fascinated on the lack of focus on full store shelves and opulent meals. If the show was designed towards them as they expected, the show would flaunt such a thing. Instead, those things just appeared in the periphery.
Slowly the Soviet citizens began to realize the rest of the world didn’t suffer like them.
Hugo Chavez, how do you like the smell of sulphur now...
Elect Hillary, and the United States will have a standard of living equal to Venezuela !....................
Happy to help!
And just think, the picture on the left e.g. Socialism, is the Utopia that hillary and her gang want to, by the goodness of her heart, bestow on the rest of America. I pray that America is really waking up.
Same thing I said. Almost.
I know this to be true...i’ve witnessed this myself
