Paisanos Italian restaurant was accused of making a joke in poor taste against the Black Lives Matter protest when it shared the Black Olives Matter Try Our Tapenade slogan out the front of its Alburquerque, New Mexico, premises. People have taken to social media to slam the slogan, with Claudia Sanchez writing: As a woman of color I find your posting offensive and in very bad taste.
You simply wish to rub salt in an ugly festering wound which evil minded people refuse to allow to heal. The civilized world no longer has any tolerance for your hateful public display of what passes to you as humor.
Others criticised the restaurant for apparently deleting negative comments.
But others praised the pun, with Russell Berryman writing: Always love a good play on words. keep up the good work.
The restaurants owner Rick Camuglia told CBS affiliate KRQE: We didnt think anybody would be offended by that. It was not our intent to offend anybody.
The sign has since been taken down by the restaurant and photos of the billboard have been taken down
To some this black stuff matters
You win!
I just had a black poodle as a rescue foster that I placed in a new home Sunday...recent Air Force widow (and AF vet herself) who had two other black poodles.
That post got a BIG LOL from me. Black olives DO matter.
Too bad they caved to the whiners who probably never patronized their restaurant anyway.
That’s wonderful, a forever home! I should clarify, I meant the run of the mill, non breed dogs. There would be a wait list for any color poodle at our shelter. I know it felt so good to find a home ; )
It was our 13th placement since a year ago May.
You totally rock! Our adopted dog, one week ago!, is sleeping beside me on her bone blanket.
I have had one foster-fail in that time...a very young male Border Terrier (they are really popular in England and Scotland, where they come from) - he was still a pup and they run upwards of $1,700 as puppies. He stayed mine.
**** “Badda Bing! Care for some bread with that whine?” ****
Ventilation... no additional charge
