A Swedish bus company has apologized after a video emerged of one of its drivers verbally and physically abusing a Syrian asylum seeker.
The man, an asylum seeker from Syria staying on Öland, an island off the east coast of Sweden, told regional newspaper Barometern that the incident took place on Tuesday morning on the 6.15am bus to Borgholm. […]
He said it was not the first time the bus driver had refused to allow residents at the asylum center to travel and decided to snap a picture of the man. When the bus reached its next stop, the driver got up.
“The driver went up to me and wanted to take my picture. I tried to protect my face; I did not want to have my picture taken,” he said.
Another passenger filmed the incident. The video shows the furious bus driver pulling on the man’s clothes, kicking him and repeatedly hitting him on the back of his head, saying: “I hate you damn swines.” …
