Gunman claimed 'sovereign citizen' beliefs
Kansas City Star ^ | July 18, 2016

Online the shooter called himself Cosmo Setepenta, and more than a week before he killed three police officers Sunday in Baton Rouge, La., he told a YouTube audience he didn't want to be associated with organized groups in case something happened to him.

"I'm affiliated with the spirit of justice: nothing else, nothing more, nothing less," he said in the clip.

Cosmo Setepentra's real name was Gavin Eugene Long, and he was from KansasCity. (Missouri) As the nation took in yet another horrific murderous rampage, public records, social media and recollections from former classmates paint a picture of a puzzling personality.

He was a military veteran without a criminal record. He had a robust online presence where in "Convos with Cosmos" he doled out everything from health tips to advice to help men reach "complete and full masculinity."

Long article fill more than half page of facts and factoids about the guy.

Most notably when reporters knocked at the door of a home in south Kansas City, man answered pointing a gun at them (he has since been identified as brother of the shooter, whom police arrested on a traffic violation.

Thanks for Posting ZeroSix.

When I heard he was from our neck of the woods, I knew we would have information in the local media.

Once again another clumsy attempt at trying to disconnect the perp from BLM and attach him to 'anti-government' leanings.

Ergo, Bible-thumpin', bitter, gun-clinging patriots are to blame.

Being a Sovereign doesn’t offer the protection of the Constitution.

I’ve considered leaving this mess of a government in favor of something else. I wouldn’t ever not call myself an American though.

Not to make this about me, but you know.. Just dropping a comment on the ground.

>>Being a Sovereign doesn’t offer the protection of the Constitution.

The government gives Constitutional rights to illegals. It pretty much says that anyone on US soil has a full set of rights just like any citizen.

Really???
Somehow that’s doubtful.

I don't want to sidetrack the thread into definitions of Sovereign Citizen.

That's exactly what the Lamestream is attempting here with the last 2 shootings.

They are making a concerted effort to divorce the shooters from their motives and blame it on being anti-government, you know, like the dangerous people in Oregon or Nevada.

Of course nothing could be further from the truth.

This administration regularly takes to the airwaves to give tacit approval for killing police officers.

When the homies respond they then get a 2-fer by trying to link their 'complicated motives' to being anti-government.

I wouldn't give it ANY credibility.

There is ZERO chance the shooter was affiliated with the Sovereign Citizen movement.

He was a black racist, plain and simple.

Yeah and I bit the bullet and bought the (Red) Star to get the entire and other smaller "news" about this guy.

Didn't want to sign up to their online version for a year, when nothing much about the rag is of interest any more.

If you can, go to the link and read the entire article. It (this article) does lift the curtain on a lot of this guy that you will not learn listening to the media?

The article does admit that he was a member of the Nation of Islam and he admitted himself, "With the brother killing the police, it's justice," he said that he was first Christian, then Muslim and but now "I belong to the religion of justice."

Rush said today the Left intends to blame the Marines for the killer’s murderous behavior and not, as we know his anti-white, anti-police, follower of racist Farrakhan beliefs.
