Club for Growth applauds Trump VP pick
The Hill ^ | July 15, 2016 | Ben Kamisar

Posted on 07/15/2016 1:48:10 PM PDT by Pinkbell

The Club for Growth, a conservative group that spent millions attacking Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primary, on Friday lauded the businessman for choosing Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

"Mike Pence would be an outstanding Vice-President,” Club president David McIntosh said in a statement minutes after Trump tweeted that he was tapping Pence.

"The Club supported Mike Pence’s nomination as Republican Conference Chairman because we knew that he would be a strong voice for free markets and economic liberty among a House leadership team that was too prone to be weak on those issues. And today’s news gives a similar hope that Mike Pence will be effective in pulling the Republican ticket toward economic conservatism and limited government.”

We Trump Supporters have trusted him for a year now...there were times when he would say something and we would all duck for cover, only a few days later, we found out that it wasn’t necessary...

These people ‘like’ Pence, means that we have the right person in the right place, they are worried, they will do anything to get Trump out of the way, and now with Pence, they can’t and they know it...Hillary has just gone down in flames just like the ‘never trumps’ did yesterday in the RNC meeting...

Have faith people, we have been here before, and we will be here again, we will be just fine...

GO.TRUMP/PENCE.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

“Club for Growth applauds Trump VP pick”

If the Club likes him, that means he’s a globalist trade advocate.

He’s pro-TPP, so that’s my fear.

McIntosh, Ryno and the rest are just whistling in the dark.

I am VERY disappointed. The Establishment should be real happy! Gonna turn off my TV now and stay home this year! The one person I thought I could believe just picked a Paul Ryan buddy. Like the “Flake” from Arizona; I’m going to stay home and mow my lawn”!!! Bye til 2020.

would be great to have eight years of Trump and eight years of Pence. Might be the beginning of a major turnaround.

Pray for America.

I know nothing about Pence, and he was not even on my pro-trade, globalist radar. But if the whining I see is any indication, then he’s a good pick.

I wouldn’t go so far as to not vote. Trump is still top of the ticket. I am still baffled by this pick. Why would the anti-establishment candidate who won by more votes in primary history pick the establishment guy who is pro-TPP and free trade, for touchback amnesty, not vocally supportive of all, criticized his Muslim ban, voted to go into Iraq, and voted for Cruz a suitable VP candidate? It’s just mind blowing.

Pence is a politician. Trump is an international business tycoon who lives and breaths this stuff. I think Trump will inform and educate Pence on the real world of international trade and finance.

Although I would have preferred another candidate, it's a done deal. All the hand-wringing is not going to change reality.

There is a tremendous potential of the GOP rallying around the Trump/Pence ticket because establishment seem to just love Pence. Watch for polls showing 90+% of Republicans supporting Trump soon!

“I am still baffled by this pick. Why would the anti-establishment candidate who won by more votes in primary history pick the establishment guy who is—a bunch of bad stuff—(and consider him to be?) a suitable VP candidate?”

Maybe Trump doesn’t want a knee-jerk, `yes-man’ lackey?
You don’t learn much from people who always agree with you.

Pence is a lot more conservative than Trump, right?
(Or at least that’s what we’ve been told for months by the `true conservatives’.)

Try to stop worrying so much and be less, um, concerned. As you recognize, The Donald knows what he’s doing.

There’s a difference in a yes man and major differences on key parts of his platform which you called “a bunch of bad stuff.” You know that. Trump knows the opposite positions, and he ran against them very well. He went after his fellow candidates and Hillary for these positions.

The “true conservatives” are the establishment who has failed us. I don’t care what they have to say.

Maybe we’ll figure it out if we see some interviews. The press is salivating over this, so you know they can’t wait to ask him.

Hope he is not making the mistake Reagan made with Bush.

That is exactly my fear: Reagan submitted to the Establishment’s extortion by choosing Bush in exchange for their endorsement. Bush was a Trojan Horse who destroyed all that Reagan accomplished.

Was Trump offered their endorsement (or simply their promise to refrain from actively opposing his nomination) in exchange for choosing their Trojan Horse?
