This sounds like a wise choice. I don’t know Pence very well but just from reading your comments, it seems he has chosen a counterpart both for the campaign, the election, the administration at first, and the long haul re President potential.
By the way, Trump knows he is more likely to be assassinated than most, with the media nearly wishing it out loud. That is something too.

Well, I’m disappointed. There is a reason Ryan, Rubio, etc. like this pick. Per Dana Bash, Trump was uneasy about this pick at midnight last night. He should have gone Christie over this guy. Oh well. What’s done is done. I hope Pence is supportive of Trump and that nothing happens to Trump because unless Pence has done a 180, they have some policy differences.

Nope, not pleased. When the spotlight finally came around and was blaring right on Pence, he totally wilted under pressure. There are those moments you get when you take “the measure of a man.” Pence failed, right on camera. Someone really needed to stand up at that key moment. Pence’s surrender enabled more of this homo-fascist insanity, enabled more persecution of Christians, more GOP cowardice. He’s a man I can’t trust.
The only positive spin I have to say about this is that at least Trump didn’t pick Kasich.
OK. A safe choice. Now on to the cabinet choices.

I look at him as the guy with the least baggage. VP does little to woo voters but can sure be used to trash the ticket ala Palin* and Quayle, the last Indiana based VP selection.
Christie and Newt would have been savaged in the media the way Trump is and Pence isn’t. Besides, Christie isn’t conservative and really messed up my state so I’m not a fan at all.
All things considered, I think Future President Trump chose a very good VP. He’s certainly a step up from Crazy Joe Biden but that’s not saying much.
*I really do like Sarah Palin and will always support a true patriot like her despite the way she’s been marginalized on the national political level.
OK, now onward.
I like that Pence rhymes with fence, actually.
Pence is a choice that will never overshadow Trump. I personally would’ve gone with someone who had military or law enforcement background. Also Pence though he did a good job fiscally for Indiana showed how quickly he was to buckle under pressure when the LGBT went after him. I hope Trump doesn’t come to regret this choice. Let’s see how the the announcement and the convention goes.
Based on policy positions alone, I would have preferred Sessions, but of the three so-called finalists, I think Trump made the right choice. Pence should help unite most of the remaining on-the-fence Tea Party and establishment Republicans around Trump and hopefully he’ll help a little in the Midwestern states. I like Newt for the most part, but he has too much baggage and other downsides, although both he and Pence would have been better than Christie. Overall, this is a perfectly decent choice.
I support Trump but picking Pro Amnesty Pence is STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID...Pence carried the ball for GW Bush’s Amnesty attempt back in about 2007 ... it is well documented... How could Trump be so blind. Pence is not of the mindset of the general - average Trump supporter... Pence is a Republican Establishment wannabe .. a has been you never was... sad sad sad sad ... and why would he announce before the convention..? I just hope this is not true but some silly lie
