Attempts to unbind GOP delegates crushed, effectively ending ‘Never Trump’ movement
Washington Post ^ | July 14 2016 | Ed O'Keefe and Dan Balz

CLEVELAND -- Republicans responsible for setting the party's presidential nomination rules on Thursday overwhelmingly rejected attempts to formally unbind delegates to next week's convention, effectively ending any serious attempt to rob Donald Trump of the GOP presidential nomination.

A vote came quickly Thursday night as part of a day-long marathon session of the Republican National Convention's rules committee, which sets the rules of the meetings and how the party will pick its nominee in 2020.

The rejection of the "unbinding" proposal was so overwhelming that committee leaders opted not to record the tally. Trump supporters on the committee quickly exercised procedural tactics to effectively kill any attempt to revive the issue -- and to codify that delegates are indeed bound to vote for the results of state caucuses and primaries...

“Where’s C. Edmund Wright?”

In his safe space, curled in a fetal position and sucking his thumb, I would imagine.

After the vote, did Lyin’ Loon Ted travel to a resort in Mexico to try to work things out in his head?

Between the ‘broken noses’ that say they won’t attend the Convention and this group - Trump has already marginalized quite a few of the GOPe Cartel- They are becoming irrelevant.

And he hasn’t even been elected yet...

gotta love it -

Ah shucks. The MSM tried so hard to make this a viable threat. Oh well . . on to some other anti-Trump mumbo jumbo.

Their ability to create trouble was always hugely overated

They were brilliantly outplayed by the master. The timing of Pence being the choice was stellar. It took back the news cycle for Trump, and kept a lot of 'pubs who might have been wavering from going over to the dark side. Besides that Kasick has gotten the slapdown he so richly deserves, with next-door Pence being the VP and another nearby gov being a prime-time speaker. Kasick will be on the outside looking in, and nobody gives a damn.

Wahooo.....a victory and a purge and maybe God is on our side. It all happened before today's horrific massacre in France.

Lol! A blast from the past. Who was that, Orin Hatch or his sidekick, the other despicable RINO whose name I can never remember? Not Trent Lott, the gonadless wonder, but the short guy who walked around deeply saddened all the time. I can’t believe I’ve forgotten his name!

So much for the clever guy that really knew the inside on how the convention was going to anoint him. Who knows, in 12 months or so he might even endorse Trump...

As if...

They wanted to cancel the will of the people, as expressed in their votes.

Bait and switch.

...through many weeks of this “never Trump” cuckservative b.s., Ted Cruz sat silently (at best) behind the scenes allowing it all to operate on his behalf. Did he actively support it or merely quietly allow it to continue? We don’t know, but we DO know that [Cruz never took the simple step(s) that would have taken the air out of the #NeverTrump movement quickly. He preferred to allow party and conservative unification to be delayed and obstructed, which could ONLY benefit HILLARY!].

Emphasis added.

Regardless of his motivation, these are the facts regarding Ted Cruz's behavior. They're the unvarnished, undeniable Truth. Were it not so, then we would have heard the evidence straight from the horse's mouth.

At this point, it's intellectually dishonest to claim that Ted Cruz isn't directly helping Hillary Clinton by his refusal to make any attempt at party unity.

Now, even if Ted Cruz finally decides to jump on board the bandwagon, his words will necessarily ring hollow. It's becoming too little, too late for Ted Cruz to play any meaningful role in unifying the party. That goal will be accomplished despite his obstruction.

Those are the cold, hard facts of the matter, with respect to Ted Cruz's behavior, and no rationalization or apologism can dispel the blinding rays of immutable Truth: Ted Cruz's antics since the Indiana primary have been uniformly selfish and damaging to both the GOP and the Republic.

Ted Cruz has disgraced himself, and deserves the "Lyin's" share of the vitriol that has been directed at him. The "reckless accusations" of Ted Cruz's detractors have coalesced into objective reality.

Vote Trump!
