Republican incumbent senators have solid leads over Democratic challengers in the key swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released today.
Noteworthy is Ohio where former Gov. Ted Strickland, who had an early lead but now trails Sen. Rob Portman by 7 percentage points, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds. The Swing State Poll focuses on Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania because since 1960 no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states.
The U.S. Senate matchups show: Florida - Sen. Marco Rubio over U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy 50 - 37 percent, and Rubio leading U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, another possible Democratic challenger 50 - 38 percent;
Ohio - Sen. Rob Portman over former Gov. Ted Strickland 47 - 40 percent;
Pennsylvania - Sen. Pat Toomey over Democrat Katie McGinty 49 - 39 percent.
"The numbers seem to be breaking the Republican way in the battle for control of the U.S. Senate, at least when it comes to the critical swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Interesting....especially the lead for Toomey in PA. Good trend for Trump.
Qunnipiac is leaning GOP across the board the year. Usually they lean to the left. They must have changed their model.
Hillary is taking the whole Dem Party down the tubes with her. Another reason I think they may kick her to the curb.
Particularly stunned by Toomey as his two attempted gun-grabs have really cheesed off Conservatives here. McGinty is a shrewish feminist hag who wants to shut down the fracking industry. They should have stuck with Sestak.
Yup...I think they are baking “voter enthusiasm” into the mix since it’s obvious Trump is bring out the numbers this year.
Erick Erickson (RedState and Resurgent) is going to go out of his mind with these polls. He already has embarrassed himself with his constant meddling and still, to this day, is calling for a Walker/Cruz ticket.

Odds look good for GOP retaining control of the Senate - if GOP Senators running for re-election get behind Trump.
I tried to tell folks here, those thinking Toomey was in trouble, were smoking some good stuff. What we need to do is get rid of Casey, but lucky for him he’s not on the ballot this year.
If the PA Dem Party could have come up with a guy like Casey, someone who gets away portraying himself as “moderate”, they might have taken Toomey out. But they went with a left-wing nutjob who wants to kill our economy. Two years of Tom Wolf has already left a bad taste for Leftists in people’s mouths.
The thing about Toomey and other RINO incumbents this year is they’ll be needed by President Trump to get his judicial nominees confirmed while their DemonCrap opponents will do everything in their considerable ability to destroy him, as happened to Bush II. That means I’ll support Republican candidates for the Senate down the line, with the possible exception of McCain.
The Democrat Party better hope that they have changed their model. If Quinnipiac is using their normal left leaning model, they Democrats may lose big across the board.
This is an anti-establishment year. For all the GOP establishment’s sins, the Democrat Party establishment is even more ingrained and corrupt. I hope they take the brunt of voter frustration and anger.
Odds that GOP keeps the senate then does nothing-110%
They could go to Joe Manchin if they want to win. But the Sanders supporters would go NUTS in Philadelphia if that happens.
The best example of a Senator not doing that is our resident idiot Kirk in Illinos. His only hope for reelection was to embrace Trumpism and get dragged across the finish line. Instead, he's gone full lib and is running commercials highlighting his opposition to Trump and his support for core Democratic positions. He is going to be destroyed this fall.
I’m actually surprised Toomey ever got elected to anything. The guy looks like a weasel.
Wolf was only elected out of anger at Corbett, no one supports him other than the Teacher’s union that owns him... he’s a schmuck at every level.
Casey is the guy PA needs to get rid of, but he lucked out and won’t be on the ballot this cycle... otherwise he would have been tossed out with the Trump majority that will take PA...
Toomey has not been great, but PA does not seem to come up with solid conservatives for senate. Some of their congressmen are excellent.
Erickson can stuff it:)
