Received text from @realDonald Trump:
I will be making the announcement of my Vice Presidential pick on Friday at 11am in Manhattan. Details to follow.
Newt is on Hannity now.....promoting himself....
Start spreading the news. . . . .
You posted a 2008 thread about a Palin flight. Thought you may be interested in this one.
Roger Stone shared what Nixon told him regarding VP picks. To paraphrase, he believed if you pick a VP who doesn’t hurt your chances of election, then you’ve achieved the most important objective. He believed VP’s rarely help a ticket but can often hurt it. So a guy like Pence, perhaps uninspiring, may be all that’s warranted. Trump is going to get elected based on Trump. He doesn’t need a super star for VP, just someone solid enough to not hurt the ticket.
It ain’t official yet and the Republican party is not the least bit worthy of trust.
Good grief, I can’t stand it. And Hannity is over the top promoting him. He’ll be insufferable.
So you think Trump should play into their hands and not select a running mate?
“Christie would be driving.”
Would he come in to Manhattan over the GW Bridge?
Does flightaware.com work for charters and private jets?
You got one also? So did I...well this should be good...I’m excited, I wonder who it shall be??? The MSM is going to be going crazy till then...lol....
Naming one would be playing into their hands...gives them another target.
It’s not the self promotion in and of itself that grates on me. It’s Newt’s constant pronouncements, such as telling us so many times that he’s a finalist, saying it would be hard to refuse the offer, etc. Once Newt even commented that it was Trump’s decision. We needed Newt to tell us this? Without his wise input, we’d have imagined it was Newt’s decision?
Newt is making me sick. He is behaving like girls in “Who want to marry me” show.
That’s what you want to hear, “could be worse”.
Announcing his VP before the convention serves two purposes: it creates an aura of inevitability, and it makes any attempt to force a VP not of his choosing upon him at the convention seem underhanded and unnecessary.
I did find this thread, at least:
McCain appears set to name Palin as running mate (FR exclusive analysis)

Based on a couple of key pieces of evidence uncovered by others (h/t to Truthseeker at Draft Sarah Palin), it appears nearly certain that John McCain is set to announce Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. This evidence has also been noted by Kathryn Jean Lopez at the Corner and in a few posts here on FR, although I have not seen both pieces noted together.
(More follows at that thread.)
I have no idea if a similar effort will work this year.
I love Newt but good grief what a blabbermouth.
Ok, jokyfo. Work your magic. ;-)
Previously on FR...
Plane just landed at Hook Field outside Dayton at 10:18 EDT-—Gov. Palin?

You are correct all around. I doubt Trump wants to put up with Newt’s ego, so a job where he could be fired at DT’s will would be Newt’s best contribution.
I think big time psych ops is going on...
