INDIANAPOLIS - Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Baron Hill says he's withdrawing from the race. His name will not appear on the November ballot.
Hill's withdrawal opens the door for Evan Bayh, who - according to CNN - is expected to enter the race.

With Dan Coats retiring, this will likely cost R’s a seat. Hugo Chavez could win an election in Indiana if he changes his name to Hugo Bayh.
Iirc. Wife has an alcohol problem. DC was not conducive to healing it.
Gin-soaked raisins?
Which Governor Pence will not pursue, no moreso than during the last campaign. But if Pence moves on to the vice-presidential candidacy, all bets are off, especially if recently appointed Lt Governor Eric Holcomb were to step into the slot. Mr Holcomb's grandfather Homer was an insurance man and developer [nursing home] in northern Knox County, Gregg's playground, and knew well where the bodies from John Gregg's business dealings, and those of Gregg's deceased banker father, were buried. It is probable that grandson Eric knows too, or can easily find out. After all, the details from Federal court records from the civil lawsuit into mail fraud and racketeering charges involving one of Mr. Gregg's previous law partnerships- not mentioned in his Wikipedia or campaign biographies- are a public record.
In Venezuela, perhaps. But not likely in Indiana, not with a dead girl on his back.
Governor Pence's Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcombe was previously Dan Coats' Chief of Staff, and would have a very good chance with a run for either Coat's old office or the governor's race if Pence becomes Trump's VP. It will be interesting to see which way he goes, or if he chooses to sit this one out and wait four years.
And while you're at it:also tell it to Teddy Kennedy.
Yeah, him and at least 60% of the people in federal elective office.
Until three-term Senator Birch was defeated for his Senate reelection run by a young Dan Quayle in 1980, 54% to Bayh's 46%.
Seen very good ads from the RGA doing exactly that.
The results from Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gregg's home county in this last most recent primary election may be instructive and indicative.
In the 2016 Knox county primary, Republican gubernatorial candidate Pence received 4,645 votes, Democrat Gregg 3,528.
The Republican primary candidates for Senator, Stutzman and Young received 5,702 votes total, while lone Democrat Senate candidate Baron Hill got 2,915.
Not gonna happen. Because Bayh cast a vote against an infanticide bill in a single instance, that disqualifies him forever as a Dem Presidential nominee.
A squish is.
Dan Quayle would beg to differ. He chopped down the Birch.
To date they've played up Gregg's Enron connection, but have not yet mentioned either his connection to the federal case filed in Terre Haute, the details of his partnership asociation with a former Knox County prosecutor [IN law allows part-time county prosecutors in some counties] convicted of stealing something like 1.5 million dollars from clients, nor the still-unsolved murder of his attorney in the Terre Haute racketeering and mail fraud case in another state.
True.
And he’s way too white for Hillary’s fall run.
She needs some color to rev up the ‘hood vote.
Said to have been one of the reasons he was not on Hillary's *short list* of possible VP possibles. Then again, she had around 14 million reason other considerations.
If you hadn’t, I would have. ;o)
It's okay. His grandad was a Hekawi Indian Chief. Or Medicine Man; I forget which, and it's not in the official Senate bio.
rdl6989 asks: “I wonder what this is all about? Evan Bayh quit politics a few years ago, but now he wants back in?”
I read years ago the Democrat Party has 10 rules. The 1st and ONLY one I remember is #1*:
1) If we don’t win, we don’t eat!
Perhaps Evan is hungry again?
I think that such a Progressive would be a much better fit with Handgun Control, The Brady Campaign, etc. where he could be an activist for ALL the gun control measures he supported / voted for in the past.
* There may also have been other rules such as:
Vote early and OFTEN
Make sure WE count the votes
