The first identified police officer, Brent Thompson, was a US Marine who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan...
He was a newly married grandfather, a former U.S. Marine and a veteran cop who had gone to Iraq and Afghanistan to help train local police. But Brent Thompson died protecting the rights of fellow Americans to criticize his brethren in blue.
The 43-year-old Thompson, who joined the Dallas Area Rapid Transit police department in 2009, was the first identified of the five city police killed in a coordinated sniper attack...

Before I knew of this police officer who was killed, I was thinking that Iraq and Afghanistan were safer places for police. I then read this...
This is simply tragic beyond belief.

Cops are far more likely to have served in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. So who wants to kill US veterans? Who agitates for such?

May God welcome Officer Thompson into Paradise with open arms, and send the Holy Ghost to give comfort to his family.
I can’t imagine the pain and anguish they are going through.

The idea that Ira and Afghanistan are safer than the US is really a tragic legacy left behind by Obama.

" was the first identified of the five city police killed in a coordinated sniper attack." Does that imply more than one?
To: Karl Spooner
Is that a serious question? 5 officers were killed!

If this was the one that died near the columns... he would have won, but the perp had body armor on and was more aggressive than a normal perp.

the grief of the father of this young man just tears my heart out. He went thru the fear of a father for his son when his son was in Iraq and Afganistan, only to lose him to Dallas. So very sad.
