NAFTA is a benefit to America. NAFTA is not a significant source of overstays by illegals. If Trump reduces foreign trade, history will record that he was one of the worst presidents ever.
Trade ought to BE trade, where the money is relatively static and the goods and services are what counts.
Anything else means not just purchases of goods, but purchases of shares in a country which will come back to bite sooner or later.
Trump doesn’t want to reduce trade, he just wants to level the playing field.
You can’t have fair trade between unequal countries.
The FTA worked because Canada and the US have similar GDP/person, similar culture, similar language, etc. But the big one is similar standard of living.
NAFTA was Mexico winning the lottery. Mexico never should have been in there in the first place, because with its hugely lower standard of living (i.e. wages) it was a magnet for companies up north - and they promptly proceeded to take full advantage of those newly-free borders.
Result - Mexico is booming with new factories - the same ones that were sucked out of Canada and the US by NAFTA. That’s a raw deal, and there’s no reason for us to continue with it as is. Why keep losing?

NAFTA was one of the early Agenda 21/Sustainable Development Agreements. Listed in the Preamble under Goals is: Promote Sustainable Development. Sustainable Development is the UN “Plan for the 21st Century” to control all human activity and redistribute the wealth of the nation to third world countries. Communist dictatorships go to the front of the line. Nothing about Agenda 21/ Sustainable Development is meant to benefit America.

Mining and growing cannot be moved, so mining and growing are relatively constant wrt trade.
NAFTA moved much manufacturing, one of the three primary sources of wealth, from the USA to Mexico.

NAFTA is POS Mexican trucks that don’t meet US safety criteria driving over the border and then driving all through the USA. It also means that now the cargo usually loaded onto US trucks and driven throughout the USA by American truck drivers does not happen.
NAFTA is the cessation of labeling the country of origin on meat so that you can’t make sure you are only eating USDA.
NAFTA is the main reason we have lost millions of manufacturing jobs in the US in the last 20 years.
