I just have to say I am not heartened by the “nuts & sluts” attitude I sense in many comments. Gretchen is an upstanding quality individual. I believe her 100 per cent.
I remember when she first started on F&F. She was out of her depth. She quickly became informed on all subjects and brought notes to the show with her. A quick study because her new job demanded it.
She is intelligent and still very good looking. Long in the tooth my arse. I am ashamed at how so many of you are willing to throw her under the bus.
Contract non renewal, DUH! They couldn’t fire her, she had a contract. You don’t get a contract renewal the day before your old one expires. This has been in the works for awhile. Everyone had to wait until the contract expired as not to violate its provisions.
Her show was number one in her time slot. Nobody watches TV that time of day. Good time slot for a mom.
She doesn’t need the money. Hubby has a good job, she made good money, and has marketable skills and will get the job and salary she wants, if she wants it.
Waited 11 years or why now? Maybe it just started. Maybe it has been escalating. Maybe up until now it has been innuendos? Maybe she just finally had ENOUGH.
Why automatically take her side? Because she is credible. This takes a lot of guts. Too many men don’t respect women. Too many men, in powerful positions, will try and take advantage of women.
Would I put this past Ailes? No. Do I believe he would do such a thing, yes. Do I believer her over him, YES.
I’m not inclined to believe her.

Looks to me like he'll fight Gretchen tooth and nail in court...and he won't pre-settle right now because he would have done it prior to the filing of the suit and the public airing of same.
At his age and with his pile of dough, he'll be fighting for his name, nothing else. She's going to have an uphill battle...I DO admire her guts.

In other words, as much about abuse or harassment pure and simple as about sexual abuse or harassment.
You can see some of that in Gretchen's feud -- or whatever it was -- with Miss America judge William Goldman, who really couldn't stand her and went public with it in a book.
True, it can be hard to separate out the gender aspect, but I can't say whether Ailes really wanted sex or just didn't like Carlson and had the power to give her a hard time about it.
