Its not the number designation, its thinking it is an automatic weapon that resembles the M-4. The guns were made to respond to aggression, not to start it. Its the people who start it, not the gun. I’m sure there are over 3 Million+ of the semi automatic AR 15 types out there just leaning against a wall of a closet, with no one to shoot at. Most reporters, maybe about 100% of them never served in the Armed Forces and have “0” knowledge when it comes to real weaponry. Besides, they are too agenda driven and take their marching orders from the MOP.

For what its worth, the SIG MCX, if not actually an AR-15, is equivalent in most details and capability, with the same firepower. It even has an AR-15 style (interchangeable apparently) lower receiver and takes the same magazines.
That business about it not being an AR-15, exactly, is a bit of a quibble.

I suspect that “AR-15 Assault Rifle” is now a generic term for long gun capable of holding more than one round in the magazine.
