Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is among the candidates being considered to become Donald Trump's running mate, a source with knowledge of Trump's vice presidential selection process tells CNN. Another source close to the process confirmed the information. It's not clear whether the freshman Republican senator and tea party star has received paperwork from the campaign or is just being scrutinized through the wealth of publicly accessible information about her.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence are also being considered, the source said. A senior Trump campaign adviser confirmed Pence is being formally vetted.

I know...it is fun to watch everybody doing body pretzels to figure out what is going to happen next...

I loved yesterday: “OH he's so racist, did you see the Star of David” ROFL...that wasn't what it was and we know what he was saying by using that symbol....the badge of Justice....ROFL...good day for my man Trump!!!

He does not. He killed pandering to subgroups last year, no reason to go backwards.

Mia Love is a Mormon who is happily taking orders from Bishop Romney not to support Trump.

If I remember right though, Ernst is a terrible speaker. That’s a big deal in a major campaign.

I’m opposed to Governors but Ernst isn’t one.

LOL - “Tea Party Star”

Politicians lie until they get into office. Then their true colors come out. Mia Love is a great example but there are many more out there

At least she has the distinction of being the choice of the day on the 4th of July, and it will be someone else tomorrow.

Sun Tzu would approve, keep the enemy guessing.

Kasich? Lol...don’t think he’s trustworthy enough...he’d stab Trump in the back at first opportunity

Yep, no experience! Stephen Miller has way more experience than she does as a former staffer to Jeff Sessions and now Trump.

For show IMO. Gotta have a couple of women there (Mary Fallin is on as well), but I don’t see Trump going with someone he doesn’t really know. Also, she was pretty quickly a sellout RINO.

I’m still hoping and betting on Sessions.

Pandering? You mean getting votes. Nothing wrong with more women/blacks voting for Trump. Pandering to those groups would be promising birth control or welfare.

Hey, do not worry about getting a woman on the ticket this time around. I willna be voting with my vagina!

I want someone on the Trump team who is smart, loves America and with respect to worldwide Islamic terror & illegal immigration tough enough not to be afraid to break things.

“I dont really care about any thing other than this question, does she help The Donald win?”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

BINGO! Someone gets it !!

Nothing else matters except: Can the VP choice help Trump win?

No Sessions, Hunter, Gingrich, Demint, Cruz, or Abbott. Nice guys, they might make a great VP once in there. But those guys add NOTHING to the ticket to help it get elected. NOTHING.

You have to separate the election from the administration. And the election is the ONLY thing that matters.

Thank you.

Ernst would be really weak for VP in my estimation; wouldn’t even help in IA that much.

Last night on the Fox Political Insiders, John LeBoutillier
was emphasizing this fact again.
It’s just hard to square Kasich unmitigated opposition to everything Trump stands for; he was behind Nafta and is so so weak on immigration. How can the same ticket campaign together or separately when the Veep cannot advocate the presidential nominee’s positions???
I wonder if Senator Rob Portman might be adequate?? At least, he is a better fit on trade for Trump.
Then, there’s Indiana Governor Mike Pence, whom I gather won praise from Trump’s family this past weekend.
Pence supported a Touchback Amnesty program a few years ago that might jive with Trump. Pence is popular with Conservatives, has a little talk show experience (communication skills) and impeccable character.
Then, there is the recent emergence of former PA Senator Rick Santorum, who just endorsed Trump and has spoken out for him several times in recent days. He also attended Trump’s trade speech near Pittsburgh last week.

“Trump has said repeatedly he will opt for legislative experience. That knocks all the governors out including pense. It pretty well boils down to Newt, doesn’t it?”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No. Not at all. Newt might make a great advisor or even Chief of Staff, but Newt has baggage galore and doesn’t bring anything tactically to win the election. Trump doesn’t need a VP with legislative experience - he can get that from anyone on his staff.

We MUST win the election and the VP choice will be critical to that effort. No Newt, Cruz, Abbott, Hunter, Sessions, or Demint.
