Just heard about an explosion at NYC Central Park don't see anything on Fox though.

WCBS reported that someone was climbing on a rock formation when he stepped on something that exploded. Booby trap? NYPD on scene.

I heard/read that a young man started climbing one of the boulders in CP when he stepped on something and it exploded very loudly. I believe he lost a foot and part of a leg. Poor kid. He seems to be very young and a good looking fellow. Not known if it was a firecracker of some sort or something more sinister. Happened near Elie Wiesel funeral. Don’t know if that was related.

Eyewitnesses say the victim was walking with a friend when he stepped on something and it blew up. Neither of the two was carrying anything at the time.

WCBS 880 reported the victim was with a group of three young men from the Washington, D.C., area.
“I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what happened,” one of the men told WCBS 880.
An eyewitness told CBS2 that a man was climbing a rock structure and stepped on something that “exploded.”
Possibly some kind of fireworks
Maybe somebody had it stashed for later deployment?
A senior law enforcement official told NBC 4 New York that preliminary information suggests that the explosion was a firework accident that led to a significant foot injury, possibly an amputation.
The official also said friends of injured man deny they were playing with fireworks, so the NYPD bomb squad is investigating to determine what the material is that caused the injury.
