Just in case youre still wondering why the worlds so-called elites are losing credibility and respect faster than Mario Draghi can say whatever it takes
New York Magazine reports:
In April, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told a crowd of developers that he heard fearful voices calling for building walls. At the time it was widely assumed he was talking about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. But perhaps he was just hearing the voices echoing across his enormous Hawaiian estate?
Back in 2014, the Facebook CEO purchased 700 acres of land on the island of Kauai for a cool $100 million. (House not included.) Now, hes constructing a six-foot-high stone wall around the Hawaiian property. And his neighbors arent exactly thrilled with the giant pile of organized rocks that now stare back at them from where the ocean used to be.

Zuckerberg views the illegal immigrants as potential employees, opps I mean freeloaders that will contribute to his empire. Now, when they come near his property they are potential criminals. See Zuckerburg wants it both ways - freedom to come america without borders and walls. But walls and borders around personal property to keep criminals out. Zuckerberg is nothing but an elitist!
Admitting you have a problem is the first step ;- )
I think EVERYONE is missing the point here.
Look at it a little bit closer, no one on the ocean side (America) is complaining. Many people on the road side (Mexico) are complaining. They are losing a free view (Pass, coyote, what have you) that at one point was unobstructed.
Now they’ll simply have to follow the law as written, in Hawaii’s case to put a boat in at a public access and travel to Zucks beach to enjoy the view.
Completely rational to me.
Good on you Mark. I see a bright future for you and Donald since you both have the same view on walls.
“Never mind. Was a bit slow on the uptake.”
Not slow. I probably wouldn’t know who he is if it wasn’t for this site. I don’t really care about names so much. Good for him that he cashed in. Probably a ton of people had the same idea about a social media site, but he made it happen. That’s America, and it’s great. That said, it means nothing with regards the validity of his opinions or his worth as a human being. Nothing. Most of us, successful or not, forget this. I’ve spent way too many years of my life becoming ‘educated’, but I fortunately know that my opinion is but one opinion, and carries no more weight than that of anyone else. Humility is hard sometimes, but it is crucial.
I am part Hawaiian and moved to the mainland . What I see happening is the elitists buying up all the property in Hawaii, and people like you and me lose what living in a nice place should be.
It shows a great insensitivity to the local population.
I have been reflecting a lot about this in the last few days. It seems to me that the .01% is horning in on places that middle class people used to live. In the old days, they resided in their enclaves, and we never saw them. Now, they are taking away things we hold dear.
There is a marina near my home that my husband and I love, and visit all the time. When we were there last, a 150 foot super yacht was there. This yacht took about 3/4 of the guest dock space for one rich dude- who looked a lot like Bill Gates father. It took a lot of maneuvering to get our boat past this one. One boat took the space of 4-5 boats. A place where middle class people moor their boats. I am afraid the super rich are going to take over this marina, pushing the rest of us out.
I don’t mind the rich and their wealth. But when their overconsumption affects my lifestyle( and other people like me) just like Zuckerberg is doing in Kauai, then it is an issue.
There is a Free Republic Facebook page
Walls also make fine prisons. If you can’t leave when you want and the peons are making you miserable...
Send in truckloads of spiders, snakes, etc, irritant gasses, skunk spray...
I think you get the message.
Zuckerberg is intensely opposed to Trump and his border wall, but who needs a border wall when you can afford to build your own six-foot high stone wall around your own 700 acre Kauai island seaside estate?
Just another example of the natural call of the elite: do as I say, not as I do.
Mr Zuckerberg ....tear down that wall!
Meet Donald Zuckerberg Facebook Founder Builds Oppressive 6 ft. wall Around Hawaii Property to Keep out 3-foot tall Menehune`s.
there fixed it
The Facebook guy is **Mark** Zuckerberg.
I was slow on understanding why the headline said **Donald** Zuckerberg.
As soon as I hit the post button, I realized the reference was to Trump’s border wall.
ALL the rich and famous Trump dissing Libs have huge walls around their property. All of them.
I wouldn’t disagree that having 1 person take up 3/4 of the guest dock space is a situation the upsets many for the convienence of 1.
But if zuckerberg followed the law regarding fences I don’t think its acceptable to criticize his wall and not his neighbors wall. From what I understand many of his neighbors have a wall and his only crime is owning more land than them.
I don’t like the guy or his website, but it seems to me people are complaining about his wall and not his neighbors as they know it’ll hit the news being who he is.
If it were not for double standards, liberals would not have standards.
“Mr Zuckerberg ....tear down that wall!”
