HELBY COUNTY, Tenn. -- Four children were killed at a Shelby County Apartment complex early Friday afternoon.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirms they took the mother of the children is in custody around 1 p.m.
All of the children are under the age of six and were deceased when deputies arrived.
Sheriff Bill Oldham said, "Our community has suffered an egregious act of evil and tremendous loss today." Oldham went on to say, "One of the most difficult questions in any investigation always is 'why?'"

She told a story of hallucinations, but in the newspaper version of her account it was the kids after they had been drugged, which makes it all that more heart rending, because they were talking about the cute butterflies, and not at all even acting hateful.
It’s possible even for Christians to get messed up with the devil, though not to the point of losing their soul. But this is a dangerous, dangerous spiritual world in which we live and Christ is the only possible Savior from its evil.

I lived in SC at the time, although where she was, was over an hour away. But she seemed very phoney to me, and her story contrived. I think many people doubted her, but the alternative was horrible.
One might think that an impulse to carry out a serious enormity would be a warning. But again perhaps the same demons that arrange that can arrange other distractions too.
One death is a tragedy, a million a statistic.
The bible speaks of turning souls (temporarily) over to Satan so that they may “learn not to blaspheme.” This is in the case of believers; and of course there are many, many unbelievers.
A tragic, horrible way to learn a lesson, but perhaps a lesser warning would never be sufficiently heeded by some souls.
Fallen spiritual world. We never were meant to be materialistic. That’s another deception the devil weaves.
Then there was that mother in Texas that drowned her kids in the bathtub. But to be a bit fair, her husband was told she shouldn’t have any more kids and what did he go and do? Right, got her pregnant again. Soon after she flipped out.
Demons running amok among us.
This world is fallen. Full of sin and death.
I’m not sure why you are talking specifically about materialism. But we are getting off topic.
Because some people won’t even believe the world is spiritual. I don’t know who this “we” is, but please feel free to speak for yourself.
This may not be a popular opinion but I put if forth in any case. When the Supreme Court imposed abortion on this country in 1973 it unleashed a demonic spirit on this country which has been growing in strength since then. The only thing which can eliminate it is for this country to get down on its knees and pray for forgiveness.
What about the one that shot her 3 kids on a back road in Wahington or Oregon? She was in love with a fellow mailman. Farrah Fawcett played her in a movie.
The mass sacrifices of kids must be a heady devil bait.
At any rate, railing and toiling against it by earthly methods is not going to stop it. As long as nobody dies and makes us king.
However, Jesus did die and was made King. An answer is going to look like the “hearts and minds” appeal that was preached decades ago, but it will have a solid movement of the Holy Spirit behind it.

Abortion may be the face of the parents-vs-children evil that we CAN see, but perhaps the face of that which we can NOT see is far larger. Murdering bodies is easy to see; how about murdering souls? The state so easily has control of kids in their schools, rather than being a coordinator of circumscribed academic lessons, because the parents have so little love and so much resentment today.
The Old Testament ends up speaking of turning the hearts of the “fathers to the sons” and vice versa “lest the land be struck with a curse.”
Scripture also says, Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him., and we are spitting on His gift. (Psalm 127:3)
Abortion is the spitting we CAN see.
However there seems to be a lot of indirect evidence of the spitting we CAN’T see.
Will repentance happen? I'm doubtful, but no one knows the mind of the Lord.
