On Independence Day Weekend=> Weekly Standard Calls for Elitist Coup at GOP Convention

The Republican elites are not going down without a fight.

Donald Trump shattered the GOP primary record this year by more than a million votes.

He was running against 16 challengers – another record.

But that won’t stop the GOP elites from trying to steal the nomination.

The Weekly Standard today called on delegates to steal the nomination from Donald Trump at the Republican Convention this month.

The traitors would rather see Hillary win than support Donald Trump.

Bill Kristol at The Weekly Standard reported:

This election cycle hasn’t been kind to Republican big shots. Their favorite presidential candidates—Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Marco Rubio—fell short. Their opposition to Donald Trump was ineffectual, and their subsequent submission to him inglorious.

Now they have one last chance to do something that would bring credit to them and benefit to their party and country: Support the effort by hundreds of delegates to free themselves to vote their conscience at the GOP convention.

These delegates have been organizing from the bottom up. Their movement has more momentum than anyone thought possible a few weeks ago. But the delegates are under intense pressure from the Trump campaign and from RNC apparatchiks to buckle under. Republican governors, senators and congressmen—who privately acknowledge what a disaster Trump would be—can do one thing to help. They can provide air cover to delegates risking their careers charging on foot the entrenched batteries of the party establishment.

They don’t have to do much. They don’t have to attack or oppose Trump publicly. All they have to say is that delegates should vote their conscience, that doing so is in the finest traditions of the party, and that Republicans don’t bully other Republicans. Just a few volleys from assorted GOP big guns could even up the odds, and give the brave enlisted men and women willing to do the right thing a chance to prevail.

The weekend of July 4 is a good time to step up. All that Republican leaders have to declare is that the convention delegates “are, and of right ought to be, free and Independent,” and “that they are absolved from all allegiance” to a nominee who would sully the name and damage the future of the Republican party.

Other than Andrew McCarthy and VHDavis National Review is a total waste of bandwidth. If I want to know what the liberals in Washington are thinking, I go there.

Reading their comments section for an article especially on Trump or conservatives is sad and funny because of all the arrogance and elitism. It is like listening to pack of Judge Elihu Smails from Caddyshack.

They are not conservative, they are stuck up snobs with money who see Trump as betraying their class and they will eagerly vote for Hillary because sure she will trash them but she wants to be them.

National Review as a “conservative” voice at this point is sad, unfunny joke. They are all about their beloved Uniparty and the $$$ and the country be damned.

I haven't had any sugar, fructose, corn syrup, starches, honey or any other sugar-based or processed carbs foods in over a year. I eat just meats, fats and some green, leafy-type veggies.

My weight is down 70+ lbs. since May 2015. Sugar is not my thing anymore. Thanks anyway.

Happy 4th to you too. :-)

Find some POSTIVE news for a change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady27,

I usually agree with you on just about everything, but this isn't negative news, it is an update. And I for one am grateful for it. I scan a lot of sites daily when I can, and one thing I am looking for is what the unholy republican underground is up to ... this gives me a little bit of more current info ... I have a hard time trusting even when I verify :)

Thanks for all your Trump support - he is going to do it!

Have a Wonderful Independence Day and soon we will be or at least take our first baby steps towards being free again!

Seems a tad sacrilegious, not to mention degrading, to use words from the Declaration of Independence to justify a selfish political maneuver.
