Breaking: Boris Johnson: I'm not standing as Tory leader
(Excerpt) Read more at bbc.co.uk ...
I certainly have no faith in Theresa May. If she is chosen then I don’t know where we are.
FReepers: the election of Gove or May to Tory party leader will be the next decisive step either towards full Brexit, or towards stealthy betrayal of the British people. Please hold our country in your prayers.
Boris was always great fun on Top Gear, but not a consistent conservative
Kudos Scania, it’s good that article 112/113 of the EEA agreement is getting more exposure.
Agreed. Boris is perhaps 70% of what we need. Gove is better, and I’m glad to say that Boris is supporting him.
Hannan or Farage would be 100%, but of course they both just lost their day-jobs :0)
Yes, one has to let the present hard feelings settle and then get down to some serious negotiations. If the Italian banking crisis will continue to tick on in the background the (former) EU partners may be quite malleable in the end. Let’s hope so.
Did you see the leaked email from Gove’s wife.
Looked like Murdoch and the Daily Mail refused to back Johnson...
Johnson, a birthright American citizen with a Turkish father, represents a suburban London area that voted to leave.
He’s not leaving Parliament, he just doesn’t have the votes to mount a leadership challenge.
Ah, thanks for the information. I dont know much about Gove, but Boris has struck me as a little wishy-washy and flaky. Im sure either would be quite an improvement over Cameron though.
Too bad Farage is not a possibility, but I hope he at least manages to win a seat in parliament during the next general election. I hope UKIP expands rather than dissolves after its big victory. Theres still the problem of mass immigration and Islamization (among other things) to deal with. At the very least, maybe Farage and his supporters can help keep the Tories feet to the fire.
This is an illuminating article for those FReepers who would like to find out more about the EEA option:

If Gove is willing and you all say he is a good man for the job......
.....I will keep him in prayer for he has a hard task before him, and he could surely use divine intervention.
....as also Donald Trump.....and I pray for him daily.
We live in interesting times!
Johnson’s father’s father was a Turkish citizen. This Turkish grandfather however was half Circassian (his maternal line was from the Caucuses region of Russia), so really Boris is only 1/8 Turkish. He does undeniably have Muslim ancestors though. He also is the decendant of an American Jew (as well as English, Swiss, and French ancestors), making an unusual mixture. The UK TV show Who Do You Think You Are? once devoted an entire episode to unraveling Johnsons ancestry.
Just added Michael Gove to my prayer list!
We may not have to wait until 2020 for Farage.
There were serious illegalities in the South Thanet election (where Farage lost): serious enough that the election result there might be struck down and a by-election held.
The wheels will grind slowly on this: I don’t think we’ll get a decision this year. But 2017 is closer than 2020.
Thank you so much Guenevere!
May he prove worthy.
Stephen Crabb would be better. Young, dynamic.
And he was born in New York despite his embarrassingly plummy accent.
Are you kidding me?? He was a remainer and Cameron loyalist. If young and dynamic is your thing, Blair and Obama certainly fitted that criteria and look how that worked out. Old, boring and experienced sounds far better, but maybe thats just me.
Amen
Totally agree, I am a UKIP supporter, Farage is a national hero.
