Investigators quickly discovered that the Department of Homeland Security had been providing weapons designed for war to almost any police department, no matter how small, that wanted them.
A new report by American Transparency, a nonpartisan watchdog that compiles data on public expenditures, indicates the militarization of ordinary American life goes well beyond law enforcement and regular citizens.
Their report, titled "The Militarization of America," looked at government expenditures and found that 67 federal agencies during the fiscal years 2006 to 2014 amassed stockpiles of guns, ammunition and military-style equipment to the tune of $1.48 billion.
While it is possible agencies like the Department of Veterans Affairs, which spent $11.7 million on military equipment in that time frame, needs to arm its hospitals' security guards, there is a long list of agencies with no obvious need for assault weapons.

If the shtf, they would take this stuff home for personal use.
Or they are realizing that if Mr. Trump does not win, and if Hillary does, then it is possible that we could end up in a possible second civil war and it will not be pretty.
BUMP
not a civilian national defense force a government national defense force, they will not be caught like the Bengazi four.
helpless and abandoned
You say this is bad. From my viewpoint, it’s a bounty that only an arrogant Federal Government could be dumb enough to spread out all over the country.
This is basically caching military weapons that they believe will be used against a hapless civilian population.
I see it as mostly easy pickings for many reasons.
Not shocking at all. This has been well known for many, many years now. In fact, the Feds are starting to take back these gifts as they have finally realized they could be easily used against them under certain circumstances.
Check with the Peace Corp’s SWAT team.

The Third Reich was filled with perverted beta males who were more than happy to inflict the most heinous crimes upon society. Anger and sadism are partners. It doesn’t require courage to torture and murder; in fact, it requires insecurity and cowardice.
Small men hate, and the petty officials in these unelected agencies have already proven their willingness to subvert the law. It is really just a small step to depraved criminality.
I read something today that those UN armored vehicles are made in the US and were being shipped to a port for overseas delivery.
Anyone else hear or read this?
Not to mention the millions of deer hunters that can reach out and touch....a deer, from 100 to 400 yrds.
Not to mention the millions of squirrel hunters that can reach out and part a squirrel`s hairdo from at 500 yrds with no scope.
A number of years ago I picked up a Govt. trade in Sig P225 that had been issued to a USDA poulty farm inspector. To his credit it had never been fired, loaded, or probably even out of the box.
Most people are aware of the cruelty of the SS towards Jews and others they regarded as inferior to the Master Race. What my WWII vet father told me is that to join the SS an applicant had to prove a documented act of cruelty against the German people as well.
At the end of the war my dad's outfit was processing an entire surrendered German army. They'd have each soldier roll up their sleeves to check for a distinctive tattoo that most SS had and if so they were separated out from the rest for special handling.
If only 1/3rd of gun owners went against some sort of government action, the government (exclude the military) would still suffer badly...
I don’t believe the rank and file military will go against American civilians...I just don’t....
“I dont believe the rank and file military will go against American civilians...I just dont....”
You obviously haven’t met FR’s comicbook gang who believe that our soldiers and Marines are the second coming of Himmler’s SS Eizengruppen.
Maybe we should start organizing.
No, I haven’t...What are they doing on FR if they feel this way about our military???
This might be where J.K. Rowling got her idea of the Death Eaters having a special "Dark Mark."
