Special agents at the IRS equipped with AR-15 military-style rifles? Health and Human Services "Special Office of Inspector General Agents" being trained by the Armys Special Forces contractors? The Department of Veterans Affairs arming 3,700 employees?
The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). In its escalating arms and ammo stockpiling, this federal arms race is unlike anything in history. Over the last 20 years, the number of these federal officers with arrest-and-firearm authority has nearly tripled to over 200,000 today, from 74,500 in 1996.
What exactly is the Obama administration up to?
On Friday, June 17, our organization, American Transparency, is releasing its OpenTheBooks.com oversight report on the militarization of America. The report catalogs federal purchases of guns, ammunition and military-style equipment by seemingly bureaucratic federal agencies. During a nine-year period through 2014, we found, 67 agencies unaffiliated with the Department of Defense spent $1.48 billion on guns and ammo. Of that total, $335.1 million was spent by agencies traditionally viewed as regulatory or administrative, such as the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Mint.

Because they have so many enemies?
It used to be the IRS would contact your local sheriff and they handled any serving of papers or legal arrests as needed. Now the IRS just goes straight for the jugular....
“Why Does the IRS Need Guns?”
Arming the bureaucracies and trying to disarm the public-fertile ground for conspiracy theories. Curiouser and curiouser.
Because the ultimate goal is to create a police state.
At a cocktail party back in the late 80’s, I struck up a conversation with a fellow — his name was Joe M. — whom I’d met on one or two previous events. After my first encounter, Joe’s neighbor and my boss at the time told me that Joe was an alcoholic who had just retired from 25 years with the IRS. Needless to say, I was guarded in expressing my political views to Joe as the IRS had hounded my dad into an early grave in 1977 — at age 59 over an otherwise trivial estate matter.
Joe was pretty deep into his cups at the function in question and began telling IRS “war stories.” Most had to do with clear cases of criminal conduct aimed at OTHER citizens by not very nice people. Joe — who was a few years short of 60 — sounded to me like someone who enjoyed helping getting really Service” had changed for the worse. Then I asked him about the new people coming in. He shook his head, actually teared up and said that many of them were “really bad.” I pressed. “Really bad” meant incompetent? “No — DANGEROUS,” he responded “they like to hurt people.”
It was then that I think I understood why Joe drank.
Something to think about as the body count among those IRS targeted conservative organizations not to mention those troublesome individual Patriots (now classified by fedzillas as Terrorists) — grows.
Has obozo armed these people so they can more efficiently do a great deal more than just HURT US?
Anyone else see parallels between THIS and Hitler’s SA and SS??
Totalitarianism must be adequately defended.
“...Refuse to pay your taxes and you will find out....”
The “good” rev. Al hasn’t paid his taxes for years and he hasn’t caught any lead yet.
I’ve seen this before. It reminds me of FEMA camps. No one on here has a legitimate answer. No one in the press is asking this question or I would see it here. If true, why is this funny? I fail to see the humor, if it is true.
IS IT?
I don’t want to see manifests. I want to see these agencies have to explain and PROVE that it isn’t true, because there can be NO NEED for these agencies to have these types and quantities of weapons and ammunition.
Inquiring minds want to know.....MINE
Why doesn’t the IRS need guns? Stealing is a risky business.
Few years ago the coal mine inspectors started packing heat after a few errant shots came their way. It was a good idea on their part.
It just wont be krystalnacht without em!
If they do that I’m toast. I rip those babies off immediately as soon as I get home.
That would be a start.
So the want to be gunslingers?
Let them take their weapons and whatever they can carry.
Send them TDY 90 days for a small operation in Syria.
Don't forget they need leaders! lots of them.
Perhaps a HALO drop?
All Fascist states need the maximum staff armed TO DESTROY FREEDOM.
Democrat congresscritters recently finished making fools of themselves by staging an infantile sit-in to protest resistance to their incremental repeal of the Second Amendment. They feel strongly that law-abiding American citizens should be denied the right to bear arms. Meanwhile, this provides context:
There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to a new report.
Open the Books, a taxpayer watchdog group, released a study Wednesday that finds domestic government agencies continue to grow their stockpiles of military-style weapons, as Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on what guns American citizens can buy.
The Militarization of America report found civilian agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment between 2006 and 2014.
Open the Books found there are now over 200,000 non-military federal officers (serving in 67 different federal agencies) with arrest and firearm authority, surpassing the 182,100 personnel who are actively serving in the U.S. Marines Corps.
The IRS spent nearly $11 million on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment for its 2,316 special agents. The tax collecting agency has billed taxpayers for pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns, semi-automatic Smith & Wesson M&P15s, and Heckler & Koch H&K 416 rifles, which can be loaded with 30-round magazines.
Under Obama, the IRS has become notoriously politicized and should be abolished as Ted Cruz proposed. The same could be said for the EPA, which destroys the enemies of the far left in the name of bogus enviro-Jacobin ideology.
The EPA spent $3.1 million on guns, ammo, and equipment, including drones, night vision, camouflage and other deceptive equipment, and body armor.
Heres some more context for the sit-in. At least 26 of the participants own guns themselves:
Congressional Democrats ended their 25-hour sit-in on the House floor [Thursday] afternoon, failing to force a vote on two pieces of gun legislation. The controversial sit-in included 26 Democratic lawmakers who themselves own guns, Heat Street learned after examining 2013 USA Today data on congressional firearms ownership. The participants also included 12 more Democrats in Congress who either didnt respond to USA Todays gun survey or declined to say whether or not they possessed a firearm.
Even those congresscritters who dont own guns are of course protected by men with guns. They say they deserve protection
New York Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel says members of Congress deserve and need people with firearms protecting them in the U.S. Capitol building, but he does not want law-abiding residents in his own district to be armed for self-protection.
but believe the citizens they live off of as parasites do not even deserve the natural right to protect themselves.
Round up all weapons and body armor from Govt agencies that are non military. Hold a big sale and give it all cheap to the public.
I should run for office. I am good at solving these problems. :-)
“History: Starting in 1996, the VA started a pilot program
of arming their 2,393 VA officers with firearm and arrest
authority at the 173 VA facilities. By 1998, only 262 VA
officers assumed arrest and firearm authority. However,
by 2008, the VA officer core grew to 3,175 and all were
authorized to make arrests and carry firearms.
By 2016, the VA employs over 3,700 personnel with arrest
and firearm authority. Its notable this buildup occurred
while the VA failed to provide critical care for thousands
of veterans who would later on waiting lists.
From FY2006 FY2014, the VA spent $11.66 million on
guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment.”

Click on the report link within the article. It is a pdf that includes great detail on who and what 5 of these organizations is doing with their guns. The above quote is from the section on the VA.
Maybe there is a contingent of personnel on the books for each agency, which have nothing to do with the official business of the agency; but, are still carried on the roster? If so, they would know about the disposition of the armory.
At least we know where to go to restock.
Because they have started sending people notices that they need to pay taxes on gross profits rather then net?
