Many experienced GOP strategists unwilling to work for Trump (Some of Cruz's Crew)

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump has finally acknowledged that to best compete against Hillary Clinton he needs more than the bare-bones campaign team that led him to primary success. But many of the most experienced Republican political advisers aren’t willing to work for him.

While there are exceptions, many strategists who best understand the mechanics of presidential politics fear that taking a Trump paycheck might stain their resumes, spook other clients and even cause problems at home. They also are reluctant to devote months to a divisive candidate whose campaign has been plagued by infighting and disorganization.

“Right now I feel no obligation to lift a finger to help Donald Trump,” said Brent Swander, an Ohio-based operative who has coordinated nationwide logistics for Republican presidential campaigns dating to George W. Bush.

“Everything that we’re taught as children — not to bully, not to demean, to treat others with respect — everything we’re taught as children is the exact opposite of what the Republican nominee is doing. How do you work for somebody like that? What would I tell my family?” Swander said.

As in years past, the primary season created a pool of battle-tested staffers who worked for other candidates, from which Trump would be expected to draw. But hundreds of such aides have so far declined invitations to work for him.

Chris Wilson, a senior aide to Ted Cruz, said the Texas senator’s entire paid staff of more than 150 ignored encouragement from Trump’s team to apply for positions after Cruz quit the presidential race. Wilson said that even now, many unemployed Cruz aides are refusing to work for the man who called their former boss “Lyin’ Ted.”

What a co-incidence, most voters that used to vote GOP want nothing much to do with the Republican party.
And the Party says they don't need voters, bless their their little hearts.

What filthy man CRUZ is ?

Didn’t he learn somethings else when he was a child ?
About lies for instance ?
Did his mother tell him something about being a political tool looking for hese own interests instead of looking for the good of the country and the people ?

That very restrictive moral is ridiculous , pathetic , and FULL of HYPOCRISY .....

Shame on CRUZ and his FAKE moral .... Nothing more despicable than using moral as a tool for hidden reasons

Why would Trump want Republican strategists who have lost so many elections?

Yea because Polls don’t like earning money.

I bet it has more to do with how much his campaign is willing to spend. He doesn’t need professional campaigners other than a good campaign manager and an excitable campaign, add good security too.

My first thought too, Just follow the money or lack of it in this case. The Consultant ‘class’ is hurting big time because they aren’t getting their ‘payday’ election year.

Also a point to consider is that this is the Washington Post. Trump yanked their press passes because they were liers. Good or bad news was perfectly acceptable to him and his campaign. Lying and just plain making things up out of whole cloth wasn’t.

Well. If you were a Cruz employee would you work for someone that demeaned and ridiculed Cruz the way he did? Accusing Cruz' father as having some involvement with JFK's assassination? That sure will win friends. What goes around comes around.

Considering that Trump is out of cash and will no longer fund his campaign, shouldn't he be working full time on his campaign instead of showing off a golf course. Where are his priorities?

I'm voting for him, and thinks he has a decent chance of winning despite his constant missteps, but he really needs to step it up.

Yes, I agree with you except for the debates. I see no growth with Trump. He doesn’t seem to be able to articulate policy any more today than he did one year ago. So, I expect the debates to basically be nothing more than 100 versions of she is a world class liar, cheat and corrupt criminal who should be in jail. I agree with that and it should be said, but it would be nice if he could articulate policy better.

The best thing CRUZ has to do is STFU .

This guy has no ability to take moral postures . Fake consrvative , dubious “christian” , working for the most rotten establishment .
TRUMP was right to get him as he will be right to get Hellary instead of showing fake “respect” ....

Reminds me Romney and his great “respect” for obama

Careful before vilifying the RNC. First, Romney lost because many smug conservatives (including some here) refused to vote for Romney. So, four years later, a less conservative candidate expects loyalty. Really?

Second, your hated RNC is being trusted by Trump to run the get out the vote operation, which is very important in close states. Trump, the billionaire candidate, has no money left in his bank account, so he has told the RNC he can't afford to build the get out the vote infrastructure and run it, so he has asked the RNC to be responsible for it and run Trump's get out the vote effort. The RNC doesn't have the money either, so they have agreed to be responsible for raising the money and running the operation. So be a bit kind to it. Trump needs them after all.

It has been already done !

But maybe you have a problem for listening , hearing and understanding ....
Tell us what you think of Hellary’s program BTW !
Is it well articulated for you ?

The RNC is SCUM. People, including from FR voted
for the RAT Romney AFTER HE GOT THE NOMINATION and votes.

But the RAT and his scum, like CRUZ, fight the voters.

THEY ARE EVIL, like lying RNC, and should be decimated.

Well, fine. Then don't expect Cruz, his family, employees and many others to support Trump. Trump needs every vote, every helper and others on the same page. They owe Trump nothing and he is getting nothing.

Fool yourself into thinking Trump can do this by himself. He can't - now that he has admitted he is broke and has no money left.

Where are all those who lambasted us for even thinking of staying home or writing in another name last election and the one before that one?

All these holier-than-thou are curiously silent when Party bosses and pundits go on their hiatus.

Hypocrites.
