After residents of the UK voted today to leave the European Union, the movement for an independent Texas may be gaining serious momentum, with thousands online calling for a Texit.
The largest group agitating for secession is the Texas Nationalist Movement, which has been promoting its own version of Brexit, called Texit, over the past several weeks. The group has taken inspiration from the pro-exit campaign in Britain, noting that the two movements share many of the same principles. Daniel Miller, president of the TNM, told Australian website news.com.au, The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington a sentiment which echoes the arguments made by the British Leave campaign.

The right of states to secede was eliminated by combat in the Civil War.
Saying it don’t make it so. Is that a Obama law?
Texas will then have to quickly raise their own army to protect them from a full blown Mexican invasion. I know, I know, US Army isn’t protecting them now from the non-violent invasion.
Sorry, but it’s already too late for Texas.
Something had to be done 20 years ago, we are now in the 2nd and 3rd generation of the invasion, and no one is going to deport 10’s of millions of people there were born here in the US.
Shouldn’t be a problem. Everyone including the cockroaches are armed in Texas.
We are already invaded. No change.
No it is the law of war consistently applied over 10,000 years of human civilization. The winning force imposes its will on the losers.
I’m a 7th generation Texan. I feel your pain. The fact is that my ancestors fought a war, lost, and an invading army then descended upon the South and imposed the will of the Norhern states.
Oh ye of little faith....
They need to sue under the 14th, 13th, and probably the 10th amendments. They are being held in servitude. Individuals who did not vote for the constitution are being held hostage by what their forefathers did. Lastly, since we have open borders under president horesass, why have state’s held hostage to a border?
As a Texan, I’d vote to “Leave”.
We’ve been all through this in 1861 to 1865
I am a 7th generation too, but am not fixed on a closed mindset. If a Convention of the States does not come about, we should leave.
The Constitution now says whatever the hell any five Supreme Court Justices want it to say.
Texas is different than the other states. It was an independent republic before joining....
Except now we have the resources we did not have then. Ever heard of OIL?
Remember —— We entered by Treaty and kept our own lands. Our flag is to fly at the same height as the US flag. We can break up into other states. We are different!
Most people don’t know this ..........
oh, you mean, Black Gold, Texas Tea,....
The Republic of Texas specifically negotiated the right to split into as many as five separate states in the treaty joining the U.S. Too bad they didn’t think to negotiate a right to secede.
It probably never came up since before the Civil War it was always a presumed right of the States. Something about the consent of the governed in all of the original documents.
