With Brexit locked in, here are other EU countries that poll high to 'exit'
CNBC ^ | June 24, 2016 | Everett Rosenfeld

A majority of British voters said Thursday that the United Kingdom should leave the European Union, launching markets into turmoil as investors tried to digest what the referendum means for the U.K. and the European bloc as a whole.

Although concern for the future of the EU may seem like hyperbole, nearly every member state has a political contingent in favor of leaving the union, and the successful Brexit vote may have just politically legitimized — and energized — those movements.

People still have opinions, but many decent people self-censor and no longer discuss or even admit politically incorrect views in public.

Old Soviet joke, modified by me to fit today's USA:

TV Reporter: What is your opinion on immigration?
Citizen: I agree with the politically correct viewpoint.

TV Reporter: What is your opinion on transgender rights?
Citizen: I agree with the politically correct viewpoint.

TV Reporter: Don't you have any opinions of your own?
Citizen: Yes. But I don't agree with them.

I would think that the UK exit gives more energy to others.

If France goes, Germany follows. After that...

Ireland was a big beneficiary as well; the EU spent a lot developing their infrastructure. I could understand them remaining in the EU, though the pressure to change their laws regarding abortion and taxes are a huge problem. The EU is ideal for smaller countries that can’t compete on their own, but the UK is a different story; they never changed their currency because they were always caught between two worlds: Europe and the Commonwealth/Anglosphere. Also, they realize that the EU has become what Hitler envisioned: A continent dominated by Germany.

"Jews make good neighbors."

Especially if you can get an invite for latkes.

Seriously, Jews, Mormons, Quakers, Amish, Mennonites all make really good neighbors. And what do they have in common? A predilection NOT to rob, pillage, or steal. A very low to zero tradition of alcohol usage.

I worked for a number of years in a Jewish section of a big US city (I can't mention the city as I have a number of ex-wives looking for me.)

Anyway, a little corner bakery sold the best apricot hamentashen. I don't miss the ex-wives. But I do miss the hamentashen.

None of these countries will hold a referendum about the EU

the ideal EU would be a confederation like that of Switzerland — so a larger version of Switzerland with individual national regions self-ruling utterly and a very, very small central government with a strict mandate about self-defense and internal security.

what are you talking about? BF -- FYI Germany sheltered them and wouldn’t co-operate with the US, allowing 9-11.

The UK sheltered many terrorists and extremists and that had nothing to do with the eU

-- American politicians are always, always talking about "self-determination". They relentlessly lecture other countries: Let your people decide their own fate! --

That's because these politicians and their enablers in the press and crony capitalist sectors assume they will be the ones at the levers of power, and they will remain "royalty elite," by controlling all sides of the political spectrum. Sometime referred to as "uniparty," a system of insiders pitted against each other, pro wrestling style.

The opposition to each other is mostly fake - sure, some of it is real because staying inside the ring of privilege is valuable and powerful.

So, "let the people decide" is limited to allowing the fake contests to go on. If the people leave the arena, if the people reject the fake contests and bring in a real wrestler, well that's just not fair. The politicians do not want an independent people. They want dependent people. It's obvious, listen to them tell us how much we depend on the government.

-- Try it, and the next thing you know Sherman is burning your town. --

Exactly. The government is violently destructive and hostile to liberty and independence. It has always been this way.

Nigel Farange mentioned the Netherlands and Denmark. And also had hopes for Sweden, Austria, and Italy. He didn’t mention France.
