Dr. Ben Carsons brilliance is beyond debate. However, there is a definite reason why I would trust the famed neurosurgeon to operate on my childs brain and not entrust him with the Oval Office.
Now, the former presidential candidate has declared that it is time to put on the table a discussion on whether or not we actually need the Second Amendment.

I AGREE with him. We should have a debate on repealing the Second Amendment, and if 2/3’s of Congress (both houses), plus 38 states agree - then we appeal it. That is our process, and if the country wants to repeal it, then SO BE IT - it should be repealed. (but fat chance of the Dems ever getting that vote to go their way)
What I CANNOT STAND are judges that simply ignore the Second Amendment - that sickens me.

Either the 2nd Amendment should be abolished, or it's a natural right given to us by our Creator. Laz is not a minute too soon with his "FUBC" comment, although outside of this masquerade ball and face to face with BC he would no doubt be more gentlemanly and polite.
The right to bear is a natural right given to us by our Creator, of course, and the only role of the 2d is to place a strict restraint on would be tyrants.\
What possibly is there to negotiate? The same rationale that would dispense with the 2d could be used to dispense with the lst, etc.

It doesn't matter whether I
"need" it or not.
I've already "got" it now. Why should I ask somebody else if I can keep it.
Go away Ben.

#77 how about just adhering to the Constitution?
The ONLY reason to discuss this issue is to allow the Commies an opportunity to alter/modify or deny the Right. All the left wants is complete confiscation...one rule or regulation at a time.

What possibly is there to negotiate? You're confusing negotiating with throwing down the gauntlet. My take on this - and I could be wrong and don't necessarily agree with Carson - is that Carson is simply giving the Left an ultimatum. I think politically it's a good strategy and forces the low-information people to realize that the 2nd is not some right "given" to us by the gubmint.

..but hes not more intelligent than all our Founders combined. Might also be stated as:
"not more intelligent than any single one of the Founders who foresaw the need to protect the individual's right to defend himself from tyranny".

"This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty
The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most government it has been the study of rules to confirm this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color of pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker - View of the Constitution of the U. S., 1803

Or an executive order/memo could do it.
And so begins CWII.

A couple of things I have learned. First listen for yourself from the person. Second don’t go with the crowd just for the sake of being in the group think.
I found no controversy in what he said wonder why there is so much of it here. A hidden agenda maybe.

To a lot of people, no discussion is required on the subject. To have him approach it as something open for discussion is not palatable to a lot of us.
