Dr. Ben Carson’s brilliance is beyond debate. However, there is a definite reason why I would trust the famed neurosurgeon to operate on my child’s brain and not entrust him with the Oval Office.
Now, the former presidential candidate has declared that it is time to “put on the table” a discussion on whether or not we actually need the Second Amendment.

Carson comes across as a “go along to get along” guy. We don’t need that type of treasonous virus infecting our free society.

Want to change or modify the 2nd Amendment? Have at it. You will need a 2/3 majority in both the House and the Senate and approval by 3/4 of the (heavily Republican-controlled) state legislatures.

“We” had that discussion - in 1776, and in 1812, and in the Indian Wars, and in the Mexican War, and in the Civil War, etc.etc. Brave American citizens, familiar with the use of firearms, employed them and that knowledge against our enemies.

I’ve been saying for a while that Ben Carson was a Leftist plant; his role may have been to ensure a Jeb Bush victory, or it may have been to give lazy leftist Comedy Central hacks free material. Whatever his intentions, his statement on the Second Amendment betrays his closet liberal beliefs.
I consider him an excellent example of the innate defectiveness of being smart if not genius on one area and thinking that it translates matter-of-factly into another area. This is a fundamental fault of human nature, but it is the pinnacle tenet of liberalism; if you are a distinguished graduate in women’s cis-transgender studies, this automatically makes you an expert both on firearms and fiscal policy. Oh, and global warming.
I’m hardly a gun fanatic, but this is just stupid. Even if you made every gun in America illegal tomorrow... hey, does anyone remember prohibition? That didn’t work out too well, either, and there are a trillion guns out there for people to pass around illegally. All you’d accomplish by taking away our right to own guns is the government’s ability to track who has them and try and keep the lunatics from acquiring them legally.
I agree with you. I’m just theorizing from Carson’s point-of-view that this is a put-up or shut-up moment for the Left on the 2nd Amendment.
Is it possible he’s something akin to an idiot savant? Someone who is unequalled in some very narrow, excruciatingly difficult area of expertise; but outside that narrow discipline is wacky as a gooney bird? Just trying to understand the man.

That’s true - but they STILL have trouble figuring out the right bathroom to use if you have a penis.
As long as you have a government, you need a Second Amendment. When you don’t have a government, you need it even more.

Strange, I didn't get that at all from his comments on that site. But then again, I read it.....

Laz, my FRiend, what is wrong with that statement, or the sentiment behind it? Only us old people were taught why the Second Amendment is in there. The Commies whom we let takeover the public educational system have purged the real reasons from the curriculum. Let’s stop the knee-jerk reactions to media trash stories, and start thinking for a change.
10th Amendment was effectively repealed in 1942.
We do. End of discussion. It’s true that Dr. Carson is an intelligent man, but he’s not more intelligent than all our Founders combined.
