The bipartisan Washington elite still cannot grasp the Donald Trump phenomenon.
How can someone possibly succeed in politics by telling grass-roots America that he understands their anxieties and intends to do something about them? The Beltway crowd has for years conditioned the country to expect lofty platitudes followed by failure and inaction.
When the presumptive Republican nominee for president speaks, large constituencies hear a straightforward message. Then official Washington in all of its contempt for voters anatomizes and reads between the lines until they have grossly distorted his words.
For example, Mr. Trumps policy of America First says that he will place U.S. interests at the top of the agenda when he negotiates with his contemporaries on the world stage. The D.C. establishment runs to the history books and find similarities with the isolationists of the 1930s. So, Mr. Trump must be an isolationist, right?
Wrong. Mr. Trump is telling hardworking Americans that he will fight for their jobs and prosperity in trade deals and other international agreements. He appreciates their frustration with political figures who appear more concerned about accommodating multinational grievances than the future of their own countrymen.
For years, free-trade deals have been anything but free. They are complex documents that run thousands of pages long and pick winners and losers. The U.S. citizenry believes that they are too often the losers. They feel that they are the patsies in global economic affairs that require the United States to open its markets to foreign competitors while foreign markets remain largely sealed.
As a businessman, Mr. Trump recognizes that everyone involved must benefit under such accords. Americans become excited by the prospect of a leader who will actually represent their concerns and needs.

if not for anything else, Trump’s straight speaking about the ills of this country has shed light on just how badly and who in DC are the most corrupted. We currently have the type of government in DC that our forefathers demanded be cast off.

America First
Doesn’t that just baffle real Americans — How absurd that it even has to F’n be explained our “looked up.”
GDit, if you cannot cheer for “Team America” then you are the MF’n problem and Trump gets that, has tapped into, and will ride it all the way to the White House.
He is an American first and foremost, he loves America, he wants what is best for America and the American Legal People..
These people that try to discredit him, raise questions about him are afraid their gravy trains are going to stop, and they will, and that is what they are worried about...they are going to have to write the news the right way, with facts not their unimportant ideas, and we need to get other foreign countries out of our government...we have a Muslim sitting in our Congress, is that right, IMHO, no it is not...he wants to be in some form of government, then go to his country and be one there...
Sorry, but you were not born here, or went through the proper channels to become a legal American citizen, not only should you not be here, you should not be in any form of our Government...
MESSAGE DISCIPLINE is needed from Trump.
Make America GREAT again.
Make America SAFE again.
Make America WORK again.
Make America PROSPER again.
Make America STRONG again.
Make America PROUD again.
Hillary won’t.
Build a tight 15-20 minute speech touching on these points.
Make these themes into commercials.
HAMMER Clinton relentlessly.
AVOID DUMB ASS COMMENTS.
And all the elites in DC claim their admiration to R Reagan. Well, didnt Reagan limit the cars shipped into this country by Japan?
