ORLANDO, Fla. —
The Obama administration denied millions of dollars in federal funding following the Pulse terror attack.
Gov. Rick Scott requested an emergency declaration for $5 million to help response efforts and victims.
Federal officials said the state application for emergency declaration did not demonstrate how emergency response is beyond the capability of state and local government.

If Gov Scott was a dem, FL would get fed emergency funds.

Emergency funds must be spent to advertise that Obama is saving the people facing the emergency. That wasn’t going to happen so no funds.
Federal $$$$ assistance for this? Not necessary but the local LGBT community will blame any shortage of assistance on their Republican governor!
I agree with you. And if the figure is $5 million, surely a state or local can be expected to cover that. I don’t really want the Feds to be using our money that way.
Florida will save more than that by avoiding a trial for the SOB.
I say, good, because as long as states keep going to the Federal Government for disaster assistance, the Federal Government will control the response, and continue to grow.

I read somewhere that after the 1906 earthquake in California, Teddy Roosevelt cabled Gov. Pardee offering him some FedGov help. Pardee replied “We’ll let you know if we need any.”
