It constitutes such an enormous ‘blind spot’, for such ostensibly brainy people ;-)
I guess it’s just in the nature of the disciplines. They have any notion of a God ‘trained out’ of them by their method; and they can’t contemplate the coexistence of evolutionary mechanisms within Nature and an intelligent First Cause, or Creator God.

I’m not advocating for Hegel...but I’d argue the physicist in the artical is arriving at the same conclusion as Hegel by other means. Hegel believed in “a God”.
Unfortunately looking around, it appears to have been created by a teenage gamer in the somewhat distant future...
Humanists always arrive at the same fallacies ultimately.
Physics is the “book” on the universe.
Math is the “language” in the book.
He's a fairly 'colorful' character. He's certainly willing to go out on a limb and say what he thinks might be possible. He's big on string theory, which allows almost anything depending upon your postulates. I've heard him on Art Bell's show before. Seems like someone who'd be fun to shoot the bull with over beers. The problem I have with 'string theory' is that it is not even wrong. It's useful for modeling some things if you want to play mind games, but since it doesn't actually predict anything, it's not really useful as actual science. I'd classify it as a mathematical philosophy.
Uh, no (IMHO ). Just the measurements part. Of course that’s all they teach nowadays. Full Physics is understanding natural mechanisms and processes beyond the formulae. Knowing the fraction and function is vital to use physics but the mathematicians decided we’re done once we get a predictable answer. Takes much more work to know what causes the math to be predictable. Real science.
Makes elegant sense. Everything that is exists in the constantly creating mind of God. When the Creator stops thinking of it, it ceases to exist-literally-but the process continues. Matter is reformed. What we are physically is reused and our spirits become memory in the mind of God. Thats how I see it. The “big bang” was the moment the Creator thought of the universe; it is God’s unlimited consciousness. The larger we discover the Universe to be the greater God becomes. Science doesn’t threaten the idea of an intelligent Creator-it proves it! Kaku is brilliant and courageous to assert this.
In the new mathematical approach, the physical world is not a primary, but a derivative of a non-physical ideal platonic realm consisting of pure mathematics. Nature is a crystalized deduction from pure mathematical truths. Therefore the world we perceive is metaphysically inferior to the world of equations.
“When science finally peers over the crest of the mountain, it will find that religion has been sitting there all along.” — Harry Wolper
Sheldon abandoned string theory a couple of seasons ago. A good thing, because it’s not a very productive branch of mathematics.
More arguments about “how many angels can dance on the head
of a pin”. Sigh. (As if angels were doing foolish stuff.)
The Lord probably wants us to use our heads for something
besides a hat rack while our brains are still functional.
The problem is that there are alternative theories which also unify quantum theory with general relativity, and whose testable predictions match reality.
There is no empirical evidence which conclusively justifies a preference for any of the competing unified theories. And it's not clear there ever will be.
And then there's the fact that, if our reality is just a simulation, that says nothing about who or what created the simulation, nor about who or what created whoever or whatever created the simulation, nor even whether or not whoever or whatever created the simulation might have existed forever.
“Physics IS math.”
Nonsense. Mathematics is a tool of science, not science itself.
“only our mathematics can provide the empirical solution(s)”
Math can never provide empirical evidence for these theories, and as the proposed “higher dimensions” are unobservable, there is likely no way to find empirical evidence for them at all. Therefore, speculations of this sort fail to meet the most basic description of “science”.
Elon Musk has said something like this. Thanks xzins.
“Tachyons” are particles that travel faster than light. There is zero evidence that they exist. They are completely imaginary.
“String theory” cannot be proved or disproved by any physical experiment. It has zero predictive power. It is of no use to those of us who live in this particular physical universe.
Why do people imply God is the problem and not the result of humans that can’t get out of their own way?
