Senate GOP Rebuffs Trump on Gun Control Call
News Max ^ | June 17, 2016

Donald Trump — already the bane of many establishment Republicans — is now in a new battle with the GOP rank-and-file over gun control measures.

The Washington Post reports that Trump's surprise call for congressional action on new gun-control legislation is getting the cold shoulder from his party and likely pit GOP lawmakers against their presumptive presidential nominee.

The new wrinkle comes as Capitol Hill tries to cope with calls for new gun laws in the wake of Sunday's attack in Orlando, in which a gunman with terrorist allegiances killed 49 people and injured 53 at a crowded nightclub.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican and Trump supporter, told The Post: "There's nothing wrong with [Trump] trying to energize the discussion on it and work out something that would be healthy and that we can all agree on."

I’ve seen that before. If it were true, it would mean that every gun owner has 60,000 rounds for each gun.

This is another hit piece invented to try to steer Trump’s voters away from him..knowing the gun issue is a hot one.

Yep. WaPoo trying to depress the conservative vote for Trump by sowing confusion as to his positions.

Who controls the list?

By a keystroke, all gun rights could be suspended by putting everyone on the watchlist.

It was my understanding that Trump is going to talk to the NRA concerning their remark yesterday that they, the NRA is in favor of a no fly/no buy provision.

I think that Trump is mostly concerned with due process issues.

I haven't been able to stay ahead of this today, but initially it seemed to me that Trump was headed to the NRA to find out what their going along with the no fly/no buy stuff was all about.

Hey Mastador1, please let us know exactly what Trump proposed except to say he was going to talk to the NRA. I’ll wait.

Listen, I understand you are upset that you got suckered into backing that fake conservative/canadian whore banger Cruz, but that is no reason to lash out and spout gibberish.

P.S. You know how to tell someone is an idiot? They believe what they read in the WaPo.

"Trump's surprise call for congressional action on new gun-control legislation"

It's no surprise. More than 40 million political people getting their incomes from government want the typical New York lefty to be the president, and they're ecstatic that they'll get him or Hillary. Either way, they'll continue their socialist debt regime a little longer.

No one is really fooled or surprised. It's Trump or Hillary, because they hated Walker for nothing other than his successful efforts to cut big spending on socialists in his state.

Which of Trump’s stated positions are “lefty”?

Trump just needs to over the gops head and straight to the people. That’s what got him the nomination, fighting the power of the establishment! Verbally kick Ryan in the nuts and roll over him and anyone in gop that stands in the way of numerous things we the people want.

That might be true but we need to trade that for due process on the watch list. The other problem with the proposed legislation that the Dems currently propose is that they also want to ban private sales.

I have no idea what he said now, but in the past he has expressed support for some gun control.

The stats you are spouting.....where did you get them? The lying media?

BS Statistics.

Get a clue; once someone gets on the list, it will be impossible to get off of. Steve Hayes got on one and he had a helluva time getting off; how do you think you or I would fare?

I am not giving up ANY of my rights because some islamist shouted allah Akbar and killed people.

F that and F any polls which say I should give up my RIGHTS.

All of his stated opinions before 2009. His more recently stated opinions aren’t his opinions, and that’s common knowledge.

No one is believes your Concerned Troll crap anymore .

I am being realistic, and I am not concerned. I know that the candidate I get will not be perfect. One of Trump's imperfections is that he will make some deals to get what he wants.

The example I gave last summer is that Trump might propose a national concealed carry but in return we would have national background checks for that permit. It might be good for some since gun rights are patchwork now, but in the long run a national check system would be abused by power hungry feds.

It's all hypothetical and like I just replied above, I don't know what Trump has promised. I do know he is not perfect and despite that I will support him wholeheartedly for many reasons.

No, that’s not common knowledge because its not true. It is a meme put forward by the MSM, DNC, GOPe & #nevertrumpers.

There are no influential conservatives in contemporary politics. Criminal commies have all of the money from their ill gotten funding (especially federal pork to state local governments).

Conservatives are now nonpolitical and are avoiding buying anything that they don't really need. They are focusing on becoming more self-sufficient and helpful to their own kind.

You need to contact the site management and brief them on Trump’s Leftism. After all, a conservative site wouldn’t want to inadvertently support a Lefty, would it?
