After what Dylan Roof did to 9 innocent people there was an uproar to destroy everything related to the Confederacy and Southern Heritage. A Muslim kills 50 innocent people and there are crickets chirping louder than the outcry over anything related to Islamic terrorism.

Do flags even belong in churches?

It shows me that the SB leadership is not very spiritual. For them it should be very embarrassing. Many people in US disagree vehemently about abortion and consider it murder. Are they going to tell people to stop displaying the US flag ? I hope they lose millions of people.

It sounds like the reporter misread the resolution. I think it urges members not to display the flag, i.e. in their everyday life outside the church. The reporter assumed that it was an order or recommendation to individual congregations to stop displaying the flag -- which, so far as I know, they don't. So far as the church itself is concerned the resolution may be backward-looking and historical, rather than substantive.
Historic Episcopalian churches, like the National Cathedral in Washington DC and St. Paul's in Richmond, do have representations of the confederate battle flag in stained glass windows, on plaques, in woodwork, and in books, and they're trying to get rid of those images. I'd be surprised if they actually had the CBF flying there on a regular basis.

No mystery why SBC membership is in such serious decline.

Yep, I am a Southern Baptist and I have thought for quite some time that Russell Moore is an idiot. If the Southern Baptist Convention leaders want to travel his prescribed route, I may not be a Southern Baptist much longer. Certainly I can stop any donations to them.

There’s fundamentalism and fundamentalism. I’m just as happy in an Orthodox synagogue.

No. Not true. The Southern Baptist Convention does NOT make policy for individual Southern Baptist Churches.
All the SBC did was to pass a resolution calling for churches not to display the flag. Each church can make its own decision. I myself would hope my church would follow the provisions of the resolution, but I am only a voting member of the congregation. Our congregation could decide otherwise.
I wish you guys would get SBC practices and polity correct.

Oh, no. Now the Southern Baptists are joining the new Catholic religion and are not combatting [sic] satan, but are against the Confederate flag!
Yours is a foolish and contemptible statement, HomeBohn. The typical Southern Baptist church is all about fighting Satan. You've obviously never even set foot in a Southern Baptist church, or you would have shown yourself to be a fool.
