It happens like clock work: as soon as there’s a mere whisper of a terrorist attack or a mass shooting, the usual suspects kick in to high gear. Their destination is always the same: a faraway land where a so-called assault weapons ban magically eliminates not only guns but also prevents guns from walking of their own volition, without need of human agency, into crowded places and killing people.
The reaction after the terrorist attack in Orlando, in which a radical Islamist who pledged allegiance to ISIS murdered at least 49 people in a packed night club, was as predictable as it was pathetic.

This is a nation chock full of stupid people and stupid ideas.
It’s not so much stupidity as just being evil. There is no lie or misrepresentation they won’t throw out there to accomplish their goal of disarming America. They know an AR-15 is not an “assault rifle”, they know it’s now a machine gun and they know it’s no more lethal than any other rifle but they’ll lie and push these memes anyway.

This probably won’t get posted, as I am still in FB “time out” (despite being a long-time member) - but lets see:
I agree that the calls for a new “Assault Weapons Ban” is insanity, stupidity, and nothing constructive as far as dealing with terrorism (indeed, it limits citizen ability to provide for their own self-defense).
BUT - here’ the rub - Trump today in a speech said, in essence, that he will be meeting with the “NRA, which by the way has endorsed me...” - with the purpose of pushing them to support new regulations.
But lest we forget - the NRA helped to PASS the previous Assault Weapons Ban...
2008 & 2012 proved that, beyond a doubt.
I will need to revisit the facts around the ASB. But somehow I thought that in order to be considered an assault weapon it needed to have 3-4 things, like a bayonet holder, grenade launcher, etc, things that I don't think come on a store bought AR-15

Almost but not quite. The list of things you can’t have more than 3 of includes a removable ‘flash hider’(threaded barrel), a pistol grip, detachable magazines, and an adjustable stock.
While the AWB was in effect you could not buy a AR with an adjustable stock and you had to have the flash hider welded on.
That is it.
An untrained eye could not tell a ‘ban’ rifle from an unbanned one.
So the difference in deadliness of a AR that was ban compliant was ZERO.
They did help pass it. They did not think anyone cared about those sorts of guns. And to be fair most people didn’t. Nearly no one had an AR-15 back then. It was only after the ban that everyone realized what they were missing. Everyone started buying ban compliant (post ban) ARs. Then they realized what they really wanted was the cool collapsible stock and other banded features. By the time the ban expired GOBS of people had AR-15s, far more than had them before the ban. Ask around now a days and you will find almost everyone with more than 3 guns has at least one AR-15 style rifle.
What the **** is an “assault weapon”? If I hit someone with a rock, isn’t that an “assault weapon”. If I hit them with a kuran, isn’t that an “assault weapon”? These morons who are pushing this unconstitutionality are degenerates of the first order.

If, God forbid, the Hildabeast wins, it will be because the stupid bastards out there who voted for her – and obozo in 2008 – are beyond salvation and, ergo, AMERICA — the IDEA — is DEAD and our slow descent into the dustbin of history has reached its destination.
Ya’ know, as I wrote that, a thought again crossed my alleged mind that often nagged me during the 40+ years I’ve spent away from making a living, enjoying my family, boating, going to the beach, etc.: Are these stupid bastards who waved their hand dismissively and smirked when I tried to tell them that we’d wind up in a very bad place if we didn’t pay more attention to our civic affairs WORTH THE EFFORT?
But I always came back to the reality that I was — and my dozens of like-minded friends were — doing this for OUR loved ones. If we succeeded and millions of the disconnected, uninvolved bastards who hadn’t lifted a hand or, worse, were, themselves, part of the problem, were dragged along, so be it.
