Given recent news, I thought it was time to put this back in the memepool:
It is impossible to address the problem of rampant crime without talking about the moral responsibility of the intended victim. Crime is rampant because the law-abiding, each of us, condone it, excuse it, permit it, submit to it. We permit and encourage it because we do not fight back, immediately, then and there, where it happens. Crime is not rampant because we do not have enough prisons, because judges and prosecutors are too soft, because the police are hamstrung with absurd technicalities. The defect is there, in our character. We are a nation of cowards and shirkers.
Well the new polling data suggest we are a nation of cowards.
I said Sunday I though the Islamic attack in Orlando and the way 0bama and Hillary reacted to it would elect Trump.
But the new polling data today and social media is showing a surge for Hillary. I’m very shocked. I can say without a doubt the country, I grew up in is no more.
The author has a point. These politicians who call for our disarmament are the best case in point. Such persons would have had their teeth slapped outa their mouth by the likes of Ben Franklin, George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson in a New York minute. We are getting what we deserve.
America could end crime in months if it had the political and social will to do so.
It doesn’t.
Jeff Synder published a book of his collected essays with this title. A must-read for anyone involved in preserving their God-given rights.
So true.
I wish it were coming down the pike but it’s never going to happen.
Bernhard Goetz.
“Courage is the foundation of all the other virtues.”
It’s not just charge the machine gun courage.
It’s the courage to vote for the best candidate and to not vote based on emotions.
It’s the courage to work hard to give your family better things instead of stealing.
It’s the courage to make changes in your life instead of hiding behind the haze of drugs.
Our justice system is a joke though, and judges are too lenient. People who commit crimes as their life’s work only spend a few years behind bars, released, then commit more crime.

I scanned this, and sent it on to many with the advice “a bit lengthy, but worth every word. I’ll enjoy reading this later tonight when I have the time I don’t this minute.
For later.
It kinda bothers me that there were supposedly 300 people in that venue and I haven’t read anywhere where any of them charged the terrorist. This is something that should be taught in schools. When you have a fight or flight impulse and there is no path to flee, then you have to fight. If a half dozen or so “victims” had charged the perp rather than cower in fear, the death toll could have been dramatically lowered.
But Americans are somehow taught not to confront attackers but to give in to them. The police will come. Yeah, they came.... 3 hours after they were called to the scene.
We need to have a “Let’s Roll” attitude when these events happen. And they will happen. Again and Again until we all learn to fight back and use every weapon at our disposal.
Ditto
Absolutely true. No way they guy could have overcome a mob attack by 300 people. Also, if you’re going to get shot, it’s better to get shot by someone not aiming. Sure you could die, but it’s less likely for a vital organ to be hit if the shooter is just pulling the trigger in panic mode.
Crime is very low among Whites and Asians. It is only rampant among certain ethnic groups.
Ra’s Al Ghul from Batman Begins agrees.
I suspect the perp just walked up to the people laying on the ground and shot them in the head or shot the ones who were scrambling for the (apparently locked) doors in the back.
If a half dozen people had charged him, he could not have taken aim at any of them. He would certainly have hit a couple before they swarmed him, but in the end he would have been tackled and disarmed.
It’s like a bayonet charge. The enemy is caught off guard by charging troops. They shoot wildly when the target is moving rapidly towards them and even more wildly when there are several targets moving in. At that point they are as scared and panicked as the people they are shooting at.
But war tactics are not taught in public schools where even the mention of a gunman can get you expelled.
"Yes, I have five dollars for each of you!"
IIRC, Chamberlain’s bayonet charge at Gettyburg saved the Union flank and resulted in Robert E Lee’s loss. Essentially, they ran out of ammo. So they ran at the enemy instead of away from them. Scared the bejeebers out of them.
But, I agree with you, that a half dozen or a dozen would have easily overcome that guy.
A great, short read on topic - written during the Clinton AWB.
