Bill Clinton: More people would have died if club-goers were armed

Former President Bill Clinton said Tuesday that more people would have died at the terrorist attack at a nightclub in Orlando over the weekend if club-goers had been armed and shot back at the lone gunman.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg Live at the Clinton Global Initiative, the former president was asked to respond to Donald Trump

’s claim that there would have been fewer deaths if those at the nightclub had been carrying firearms.

“Did you see how dark it was?” Clinton said. “It’s likely that more people would have been killed.”

A gunman of Afghan descent who claims to have been inspired by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria killed 49 people and wounded dozens more in an attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Omar Mateen, who was killed after an hours-long stand-off with police, was armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle affixed with high-capacity magazines that permit the rapid firing of ammunition.

It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history and worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.

The tragedy has reignited debate over the nation’s gun, immigration and intelligence gathering laws, as well as political correctness and the nature of Islam.

Clinton on Tuesday pushed for a ban on “assault weapons,” arguing that gun deaths dropped sharply after he signed a ban as president in the 1994. The act expired in 2004.

“It worked pretty well,” Clinton said of the ban.. “Then when it was allowed to expire. For a while we didn’t seem to have uptick in crime, but look at what happened with big weapons at Sandy Hook and Aurora, Colorado and most recently in Orlando and San Bernardino, California.”

“It’s clear that if you’re firing a lot of ammunition in a short amount of time with a weapon designed to kill, more people will die than if you’re stuck with a pistol,” Clinton continued. “If [the Orlando shooter] just had a pistol, nobody believes he could have killed 49 people.”

Ballistics testing isn’t done. Police admit they don’t know if they killed any club goers in their raid.

More people would have died if club-goers were armed...

...if there had been even more terrorists, and all would be here by invitation from the DNC.

Clinton on Tuesday pushed for a ban on “assault weapons,” arguing that gun deaths dropped sharply after he signed a ban as president in the 1994. The act expired in 2004. Someone tell this syphilitic fool that "gun deaths" have been "dropping sharply" since at least 1980, and continued to "drop sharply" after 2004. The AWB had nothing to do with it. Oh, and fists and feet still kill more Americans than rifles of all types, including the dreaded "assault rifle".

1. THE so called ASW ban under Clinton was smoke and mirrors-- Manufacturers made cosmetic changes and they were perfectly legal. So it didn't really exist

2. Gun deaths going down is probably more due to the ER trauma teams becoming more proficient
Just look at ChiTown About 80% are only wounded

The perp used a sig mcx. Google it. Highly adaptable, multiple configurations, folding stock. Actually perfect for the use he put it through. The perp knew his weapons.

To repeat, bomb or no bomb, you don't grab an active shooter's weapon, you shoot him. In this case in the head. Irrelevant however since no one but the guard was armed. And he died first.
