Staying on as the case's judge he will be under pressure, under fire and under ridicule no matter how he rules in any motions during the trial.
If he rules at the end against Trump U, he'll be appealed right up to St. Peter's gate. If he recuses now, his peers and supporters will deride him as having no guts and letting Trump walk all over him. Same thing if he rules the case goes on and he rules everything in the Donald's favor.
He can't win no matter which way he goes. Trump's got him in a bind that ain't pretty for him.
I'll bet that when he goes home after the final decision his wife will be gone and his dog will bite him in the leg.
