I predict a public relations disaster when the imported chickens infect the local populations — birds and people — with some type of avian virus or bacterial illness.
Such philanthropists are out of touch with reality and what is going on in the U.S.A. They don’t realize or don’t care that NIMBY regulations and fees are keeping Americans from building and starting new, small production businesses and are driving them into homelessness.
And every time a new chick version is released, you’ll be forced to upgrade.
The way to fight poverty is to increase the productivity of labor by means of increased savings and investment, increased capital accumulation, increased capital intensiveness, increased technological progress, increased rationality of the culture, and recognition of freedom and private property rights.
ROFL. Your reputation for being quick on the comeback is well deserved.

That’s nice Gates can do that; but, if you can only donate
a few dollars for just a couple of chickens - DO IT! A
few thousand ordinary people can do a lot of good. -
Samaritan’s Purse & some others offer all sorts of
opportunities to give someone in the world small gifts
that are a lot to poor people.
If Gates is giving them away they had better check to see if they are carrying Ebola, some other disease or if grown and eaten render the person sterile!!!!!
Not all. Some of them will be kept for laying hens to
furnish ongoing supplies of eggs to families.

Let me understand, you got the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So, who’s having sex with the hen?

But seriously ... giving these folks livestock is a whole lot better than giving them bags of food.
