Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Tuesday he is still considering whether to support his former rival Donald Trump for president.
"Like many other voters, I'm watching and listening and assessing what he says and what he does and I think that's what millions of voters are doing and that's the way the Democratic process is meant to operate," Cruz said, according to MSNBC.
"I think voters are going to do that from now right until Election Day, and I'm giving it time and watching and assessing."
Cruz, who dropped his presidential bid last month, feuded with the presumptive GOP nominee several times during his campaign. Before dropping out of the race, Cruz called Trump an "utterly amoral" pathological liar, narcissist and bully.
Last month, the Texas senator told reporters he had plenty of time to make a decision on whether or not to back Trump.
Cruz told MSNBC that he is focused on "defending conservative principles," noting he thinks the party's platform should reflect those principles.
"I am fighting for those principles now in the United States Senate. I had hoped to fight for them and implement those principles from the White House," he said.
"It turned out that was not the way the election went and so I'm back here in the Senate working hard to fight for those very same principles."
He said the American people are looking for a leader who will "get Washington off of our backs, that will bring back jobs and economic growth, that will defend the Constitution and that will keep this country safe."
"And I hope that's what we end up with," Cruz said.
Trump has come under fire over comments he made questioning whether an Indiana-born federal judge might be biased against him because of his Mexican heritage. Republican leaders have condemned Trump's remarks.
Yeah, I’d call you a troll.
And a twit too.
But hey, don’t take my word for it.
And this is why I call you a troll.
Because I haven’t seen you at all until just today, and I keep an eye on these threads. And your talking points are right from the liberal playbook.
Yeah, your psyops are exposed.
Nicely done mainstream media sources. As everyone knows, the MSM hates Trump. I didn’t see an honest article in the bunch.
He’s probably waiting to see who will give him more money or more tv camera attention. I’ve lost all respect for this blow hard and I voted for him, to the senate. Fool me once...fool me twice...I think not.
Haaaaa!!!! Honest to God, I’ve never seen your name pop up either. Not once. Big board though. I’m a card carrying Freeper who donates, unlike many.
Nice try. Continue your PsyOp program of going down the wrong path. Probably should not call people you have not seen “at all” a liberal. Probably shouldn’t be the whole “Internet Anonymous Name Caller Tough Guy” either but that is what some do to feel powerful. Enjoy your TV Dinner tonight as I have a big meeting in the morning and am calling it soon.
So you are saying his quotes were not his?
And so am I; how about that.
Care to compare posting histories?
Nope. I moved from “Mine is bigger than yours” in grade school.
I don’t get it. Not posting anything from hitlery. Never have, that I know of.
Sorry I do think what he said was misconstrued and as usual the MSM tells their “version”.
I don’t think the “white race” is superior, but today we get the PC crap that blacks or Hispanics are superior. We are all humans if we act as such! PC is total crap and people blew over it until Trump had it “in our face” sometimes it takes the pendulum to swing far one way until it levels.
The issue of this thread was Cruz not having the integrity to keep his word and it sounded like you excused that.
Well, it would sure be a way to prove whether or not you’re a troll, hmmm?
Or maybe we’re just busy celebrating Condescending Twit Day and this is going to keep getting worse.
Are you thinking of supporting Hillary, Ted???
Not gonna play the game. You can play the childish, “Poke the Bear”, “My Wee-Wee is bigger than yours” game.
I’m going to bed.
Ted Cruz is Citizen Kane relived. His Dad took away his sled in Calgary, and ever since then he's been play acting a life of make-believe and the dream of being the next Tarzan in the Great Bush Lands. But what he really misses is Rosebud, the carefree life of a kid playing with his sled, or shooting hoops with the neighbor's kids. Sadly, it's a chapter in life he never fully had -- and his personality has suffered because of it. |
I stand corrected - and I’m not into slurs (or idols or cults). It was Donald Trump who, referring to Dr. Carson’s autobiography, made remarks about his (Carson’s) adolescent issues with anger along the lines of “incurable; like pedophilia”. Actually much worse accusations than calling him a liar. The point is Trump’s demonstrated that he’ll say anything in the moment, even if he doesn’t believe it, to “win”.
If Carson can support Trump, then I can, too (since he’s the only option to Hillary) but there’s no question in my mind who’s the better man. Nor do I intend to wear blinders about Trump. He may turn out to be a great POTUS but he’s a flawed human like the rest of us. He may not think so since he’s said he’s never felt the need to ask God’s forgiveness, many of his spporters may not think so, but the authority of Scripture supersedes the opinion of any man.
We need a George Washington in this hour, but as Sylvia Thompson wrote in her column last week, God has used “ordinary, (even extremely flawed) men to accomplish His will”. I hope Trump is an answer to our prayers.
A few rays of sunshine and wisdom in you post. Thanks for it.
Never excused. Actually said he will eventually commit. Just not going to be the pansy that Christie and Carson are. Licking the boot-heels right after he destroyed them personally.
Cruz will come over but he isn’t going to suck up to do it.
Okay, bye-bye!
I mean, it’s not like my behavior was exactly acceptable anyways either. Though YOU were the one who brought up dick size, so I’d say that you’re still the less mature one.
Best to sleep things off.
You know, maybe it’s because of all the time I spent in Brooklyn, but that kind of speech is pretty normal to me, no matter who’s talking about what.
And you don’t have to like Mr. Trump to vote for him. It’s not like there’s anyone who’s a perfect candidate. Heck of a lot better than the alternatives.
But to address your comments. In this time, in this place, it’s better in my opinion to go too far than to not go far enough, especially if you’re a New Yorker who has that as his thing.
