Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made headlines Friday when, with a racially charged exclamation, the candidate singled out an African-American man at a campaign rally in Redding, California.
"Oh, look at my African-American over here!" Trump had said, interrupting his own winding speech to direct his supporters' attention to a man in the crowd. "Look at him. Are you the greatest? You know what I'm talking about, OK?"
But the man called out by Trump -- Gregory Cheadle, a Republican candidate in California's first congressional district -- didn't seem to mind the attention.
"I never, ever sensed any racism on his part," Cheadle told CBS News in a phone interview Saturday. "Looking at it now, I can see on a script -- in a transcript, or even somebody watching the clip -- I can see how they would jump to the conclusion that it was racist. But I never felt anything at all."
Instead, Cheadle took it as a flattering remark.
"It's a compliment to me," said Cheadle, who briefly met Trump when the billionaire waded into the crowd after the event.
Their exchange, reported by the Redding Searchlight, happened after Cheadle had called out, "Uncle Donald, Uncle Donald." Cheadle told the local news outlet that Trump "recognized me as the guy he had called out" and they chatted briefly about job creation.
Cheadle said Saturday that the attention Trump paid him seemed more like a recognition "that my work is paying off, that we as a black people can achieve things."
And he further laughed off the Internet uproar regarding Trump's "my African-American" phrasing: "We are a super-sensitive people now when it comes to race," he said. "I mean, super sensitive. And we're so ready to pull that racist trigger and sometimes unnecessarily so."

“”Oh, look at my African-American over here!””
BACKFIRE! LOL.
In 2008 George Allen, in Virginia, LOST A SENATE RACE over one word that no one ever heard of before, Macaca, and with that, Obama would have his 60th vote to take over (and destroy) health care in the United States.
Trump is 69 years old, and he speaks off the cuff. He knows enough PC to use “African-American”, but speaking off the cuff, he might miss a word or two - in this case, if he simply included the word “friend” in the sentence, we wouldn’t be reading about it. Instead the left wants to make it sound like Trump thinks he OWNS that man, as in Slavery. Obviously Trump doesn’t have slaves, but he actually does own millions of us that will vote for him in November, Macaca or not.
“His SS detail all had hot suits on, too. I felt bad for them and then thought of what our troops in Iraq and other hot places had to endure in the blistering heat.”
I suspect that most, if not all of those SS guys are ex-military - they also went through that hell. Spending an afternoon outdoors in Phoenix right now is probably the best times of their lives, particularly with Trump, who must be TOTAL BLAST to hang out with.
The problem with George Allen was he was a fake. He wore cowboy boots in Virginia. Trump is the real deal. He is not pretending.
He certainly didn’t have the skills of Trump, but then who does?
Corey Booker is salivating, chomping at the bit, shiverin’ & shakin’ to be Hitlerys VP.......
good gravey Booker is more than a ingratiating arse kisser, he wants to crawl up Hitlerys political fanny
I have noticed a few times when the MSM will quote Trump verbatim and it will appear negative, but when you see Trump saying it on video, it doesn’t come across like that. Most of the time he was being lighthearted.
I would be interested in your findings. That would be a credible measure of individual bias and a L vs. R comparative.
Just think Obama could have said that’s my ni$&ar and it would have been cool
It would have made more liberal heads explode if he had said, “Look over there! If there was an auction, I would totally buy that guy!”
Well! So much for that!
Cheadle won’t be getting very many more interviews, because he does NOT further the narrative.

Now, the media think they have Trump on the ropes over his claiming the Hispanic judge has connections to La Raza.
They are despicable.
