I agree that Ali did not dodge the draft.
He did not run to Canada at the height of the war. He did stand on his personal priciples. We know now that that was not an aspect of islam which is the most warlike of all modern religions. So, it was personal principles.
I loved Ali, but, the poor soul was used and abused, by those around him. They used him for their ugly political gain & motives and they then they stole his money & wealth. God made him to be a champion, which he became, was & always will be!!! But...he was short of “common sense”, and was easily led, by those with their own evil intentions & convictions. America allows, and the left-wing, low life, vermin, do this all the time to a large portion of our gifted, but, flawed, people. They rank, terribly abuse of them, and, then discard like they ware throwing away garbage!!! Where were the good shepards of the Lord, when you needed them?
Ali, my son, Ali....RIP, with all of your human faults, which we all have, You amazed us all with your fantastic boxing skills, you entertained us, charmed us, made us laugh, made the world a better place, loved your country & loved the world, loved all people & suffered illness with your unending dignity, courage and grace!!! Lord help us.....the flag at half mast for a loser like Whitney Houston. While Ambassador Shirley Temple Black was never mentioned by the POSPOTUS.
10 to 1 says before the day’s out Obama will call a press conference and say how great and “transformative” Ali was. He loves the word “trans”. He’ll then say all flags will flown at half-staff for a man that refused to fight for his country. Obama will say the Supreme Court exonerated him and he deserves the highest respect because we are greater country because of this “courageous” American.

If more men like Ali had dodged it, it wouldn’t have taken another quarter century for it to end.
Those who remember Ali only for that brief tainted period in our country’s history have likely never been refused service in a restaurant simply because of their skin color.......
This for the guy who rejected and refused to serve his country, what a disgrace. He is not worthy of this honor.
You don't have to like the guy but under our system of justice, Muhammad Ali was not convicted of draft-dodging. The USSC said so and their word is final. Even if you disagree with that decision (and I do), it must be respected as the law of the land.
As a youth, I liked Muhammad Ali but soured on him as I grew older. However, I don't have any issue with Louisville, Kentucky honoring one of their citizens who made good. I believe there is already a Muhammad Ali Blvd. in Louisville.
Does anyone know if Louisville lowered the flag when Louisville native Jimmy Ellis, the former WBA world heavyweight champion and big shot in the national amateur boxing organizations, died a couple of years ago? If it was done for Ellis, then it seems obligatory to do it for Ali who had a much more storied career.

Ali was truly magnanimous in his personal victory. He was found to be a true conscientious objector (as opposed to all the cowards who burned their draft cards and ran to Canada to await the pardon from the next Democrat in power).
He stood on principle and was eventually exonerated and did not hold any grudges against those who prosecuted him.
I guess you could say Ali was a MINO.
This coming week is gonna be like when Nelson Mandala died, or worse.
Ali may have been a great fighter, but for the most part I found him to be a Immature Braggart lacking in any class or humility. I cite his treatment of Joe Frazier as a good example. Joe was the real class act, and of not for his sense of fairness and generosity Ali would never have gotten that title fight against him for his comeback.
This half-staff business is getting out of hand. Only the president and state governors have the legal authority to order the national colors lowered to half staff. But what do laws mean anymore?
All that aside, head injury is one of the listed causes of Parkinson.
If he injured his head, then it must have been an accident at home. I don't recall anyone ever landing a solid punch to Ali's head. His head was the fastest moving target in Boxing history.
