President Obama spoke at a town hall moderated by PBS Wednesday night while still in Elkhart, Indiana. The subject of gun control came up and the president assured that neither he nor any other Democrat is trying to take away America's guns.
An audience member stood up and posed the following question: "Why do you and Hillary want to control and restrict and limit gun manufacturers, gun owners and responsible use of guns and ammunition to the rest of us -- the good guys -- instead of holding the bad guys accountable for their actions?"
The man continued, using Obama's hometown of Chicago as an example, and said the city boasts some of the strictest gun laws in the nation alongside an "embarrassing" murder rate. He wanted to know why restrict lawful gun owners when its the thugs in the city that need to be rounded up and put away.
The president was a bit miffed at the man's pointed question, but assured him no one's coming for his guns:
“The notion that I, or Hillary or Democrats or whoever you want to choose, are hell-bent on taking away folks’ guns is just not true.
“And I don’t care how many times the NRA says it. I’m about to leave office. There have been more guns sold since I’ve been president than just about any time in U.S. history. There are enough guns for every man, woman and child in this country.

Reminds me of the time at a Freep at the WH. We were doing sth about the 2nd Amendment, and a woman came by chastising us and went on about guns being terrible etc. I asked her if she felt safe where she was at that moment, and she said yes. I then pointed out the different people carrying guns not far from her —— the WH police, the DC police and other armed people that are always in the area — and also pointed out the sniper on the WH roof. The woman said nothing and just turned and walked away.
Sorry numbnuts, gun owners are not as stupid as your liberal moonbat base is.

The number of guns in private hands will have increased by about 30% during his administration. He has to hate that. It must be eating at him.

A Form 4473 background check only records point of initial sale, usually retail. A new law requiring all private transactions to go through an FFL holder hasn’t happened yet.
The Feds have no authority to say “You bought an AR-15 on 19 October 2013. Turn it in.” Because there is no law that required you to report selling the weapon.
“For there to be a registration law, there has to be a deregistration law”.
That’s what they have in Australia & UK. A gun is registered to its owner, whose home can be entered any time by police to inspect its serial number or the manner in which it is secured. When the Australian government called for the turning in of all semi-auto rifles, the registration rolls already existed & were used to send, as you say, warning letters to owners: “You have this gun; turn it in or we’re coming for you.”
Even the a-hole states which have banned semi-autos say that owners must either turn them in or get them out of the state. The compliance rate has been minimal and the sheriff’s aren’t out knocking on doors.
We do not have a national gun registry nor national licensing of owners (a-hole states like NY, NJ, & CT do) but that’s what Obama & Hillary want, and before them Al Gore & Bill Bradley.
Intentions must be backed up by capabilities, and the regime doesn’t have those yet. Obama ruefully admits that gun sales have skyrocketed and all but says he doesn’t have enough Federal flying monkeys to go out & round them all up.
