Why wouldn’t they with a weak President at the helm. It would only get worse with Hillary.
With Russian Navy maintenance, I’d hope their sailors have been keeping up their life insurance premiums.
Why bother? Everyone on Earth is freely welcome to pay $400 to Delta Airlines for a one way trip and simply invade the country.
The USN helped win the Cold War against a much more formidable adversary in the USSR. I do not remember any public whining like this. Today it seems many of our military leaders have become drama queens.
I have many concerns for our USN but they are internal and stem from the current political leadership.
Well, sink a few of them and say “Ooops!”
“’Once again, an effective, skilled, and technologically advanced Russian submarine force is challenging us.’”
Sounds like the Navy is hoping to persuade Congress to accelerate our current submarine construction plan.
prowling the Atlantic, testing our defenses, confronting our command of the seas
I remember when the US deployed U.S.-built Jupiter MRBMs in Turkey and Italy against the Soviet Union, unknown to the US public. Then screamed like hell when the USSR tried to put missiles near us in Cuba.
If we’re afraid to act like a superpower (red lines in the sand, caving to Iran, letting Cuba stand post-Cold War, etc) then it’s only natural we lose the perks that come with being feared.
We’re all set. We are converting our boomers into conventional cruise missile launchers and Seal team release subs.
Yeah, that will deter them. /s
