One day after Iran released 10 sailors they abducted in Iranian territorial waters, the administration released $1.7 billion in taxpayer dollars to Iran, part of a settlement of an old Iranian legal claim and came from a special fund the executive department can tap to pay claims against the US.
Or was it ransom paid for the kidnapped sailors?
The administration insists timing of the released funds is coincidental.
But legislation introduced in Congress would compel the administration to detail whether it paid Iran a $1.7 billion for the hostage release.
Lawmakers suspected taxpayer money was used to secure the the sailors' release.
The new legislation would require the White House to certify whether any federal funds, including Januarys $1.7 billion payment, were doled out to Iran as part of a ransom to secure the release of these sailors and citizens imprisoned in Iran.
The legislation noted that the administration released the money to Iran just a day after it freed several U.S. citizens from prison.
The bill would require the White House to determine if treatment of the sailors violated Geneva Conventions or international laws governing innocent passage in international seas..
Why would Congress disbelieve the president? Perhaps because the Iranians themselves are claiming the money was part of the deal to release the sailors.
An Iranian military commander said Wednesday that the cash settlement was reached to motivate Iranian authorities to free the imprisoned Americans.
The annulment of sanctions against Irans Bank Sepah and reclaiming of $1.7bln of Irans frozen assets after 36 years showed that the US doesnt understand anything but the language of force, Mohammad Reza Naqdi, the commander of Irans volunteer Basij forces, told the countrys state-controlled press.
This money was returned for freedom of the U.S. spy and was not related to nuclear negotiations,

The prize was the capture and examination of the latest military GPS unit.
Trump is gonna have a lot of fun with these fools!
Buahahahahaha!!!! This has got to be the funniest statement I have ever read. Lol. Yeah, legislation will fix it. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Screw the unitard Repugnant traitorous party. Piss on them all.
A real American president would’ve got them back with no deals being made.....One way or the other....
0blama giving taxpayer dollars to Iran is just like him stealing our money for HIMSELF.
GPS is GPS. No difference between “civilian” versus “military.”
Used to be decades ago, but no longer as we find civilian use requires just as accurate signals. . .for example, air navigation.
The more pressing and relevant question is: How much of the multi-billion dollar ransom found its way back into obama’s pocket?
The Obama/Jarrett legal staff will focus group another name for “ransom” and offer that to our do nothing wimpy legislators and get off the hook again.
And we (as in “We, the people”) should be able to have all records of electronic communications between our government and Iran pertinent to this issue and exchanged during that period of time, reviewed by independent auditors. You know, the guys purporting to represent us ...
But of course, from the “most transparent administration ever”? the answer is `No’; if the past manners of dealing are any clue, the truth would never out.
Like Hillary’s e-mails and Lerner’s IRS, and Benghazi, etc., trying to determine if Democrats and their ever vigilant loyal opposition once again screwed the pooch with Iran and hostages (on our behalf) would be, at least for us, yet another exercise in pulling teeth by the GOP’s Fearless Fosdicks afraid of the sight of blood, with lots of harrumphing, slap-fighting (”And Meghyn, make sure you put `conservative’ in front of my name, OK?”) and running-out-the-clock, until eventually one branch of Uniparty hands the baton to the other branch and everyone forgets what all the hubbub was about.
Do we have these guys’ numbers, or what?

Yet, no accountability. That’s why this fraudulent behavior by government will always continue, unabated.
Good example......
Hey stupid press...ASK THIS QUESTION you TWERPS!!
It’s not about the accuracy, since civilian surveyor GPS units are probably even more accurate than the standard-issue Military-grade systems. The key is the circuitry that allows the military version to continue working when the civilian ones get put into reduced-accuracy mode, and the components that let the mil system do things like ionospheric correction and encryption, and in particular the circuitry that makes military GPS receivers more resistant to jamming.

Or—I would add—a lie by a pathological liar.
