Cruz looks to ease bad blood with GOP establishment
Politico ^ | May 31, 2016 | Katie Glueck and Burgess Everett

The freshman senator wants to return to the campaign trail this fall as a conservative surrogate for Republicans aiming to turn out the GOP base, they say.

“That can go a long way toward establishing good relationships,” said a senior Cruz adviser...

As Cruz preps for reelection in 2018 and eyes a 2020 presidential bid, there’s a tacit recognition among some members of his political circle that the opposition he faced from his own Republican colleagues was a real problem for his candidacy as the primary field dwindled...

Other senators said they, too, have had almost no dealings with Cruz since he dropped out of the presidential race early this month. He returned to Washington for a defense bill mark-up and a news conference, then promptly took a week off from the Senate in Mexico to convalesce from the campaign. He returned on Wednesday for the last few minutes of a caucus lunch and said little, according to an attendee.

“and yet you expect Cruz supporters to vote for Trump because?...”

Cruz got about 10% of the vote in Washington. Be generous and cut that in half, to 5%, given that others voter more directly for globalist Hillary or comrade Bernie.

Now, realize this is only the primary after Cruz has been effectively dispatched, so this is a protest vote for show only, as it won’t affect anything. In November, we are playing for keeps, so cut that in half, as at least that many will make the sober decision to defeat Hillary.

Now we are at 2.5%.

That is a number as marginal as some of the deviant interest groups in the Democratic party. It is never wise to pander to the fringe.

Cruz in the course of the year has made many of his supporters from last summer into former supporters today. They are already over him, with cause. What remains in his camp, like jackals picking through refuse, are the Consistently Credulous Cruzlims with bizarre magical thinking and deliverance fantasies, globalists, and the people who have constructed and handled the Texan Who Never Was. Oh, and Glenn Beck.

The rest of us have moved on. We are not going to kiss your ass. Just go somewhere and be fringe weirdos there. Take Beck with you when you go.

That’s not fair, you played the IKE card! The Trump cult will never accept anyone as OK, until the Donald does. Cruz’s principals are an alien concept to anyone who wants BIG government to take care of them or punish the opposition.

“I Like Ike” one of the best political slogans of all time.

Interesting isn’t it. I thought the new theory was that Cruz was nothing but a troublemaker that couldn’t make deals.

He’s a US Senator from one of the most important states with an outstanding resume. What are your claims to fame?

Cruz is a pathological liar that is only supported by nutcases, morons and other pathological liars. That's why it's such a joke that Politico calls him the "leader of the conservative movement." You Cruzers have become the new kook fringe. I've even been talking to these freaks and half of them have come out as pro-amnesty. It's amazing to see. Cruzers, in general, have no real principles, but support Cruz fanatically for narcissistic reasons. Makes them feel principled and righteous.

Look at FR, the only Cruzers left are the pathological ones. Trump has already claimed the Republican vote, hence his poll numbers against Hillary.

The evil, self-righteous Cruzers can't blackmail us anymore. Trump has won. The obsessive fringe here and there are insignificant.

That is a big pile of cur-ooze. Will bluebonnets grow in it?

And the word you are looking for is ‘principles’.

Lyn’ Ted wants to ease things?! Well, first, quit the presidential campaign, not suspend it. Release all delegates, stop scheming vis-a-vis the convention. Second, come clean on your respect for the US Constitution and the reality that you are a Canadian Natural Born Citizen, not an American one. Third, show some transparency on your Cuban, Canadian, and U.S. citizenship. And, fourth, as an elected member of Congress, maybe go back to work, else quit?

Cruz is a liar and a sexual deviant cloaking himself with preacher tones and bible verses. He saw the weakest conservative links wanted to hire a pastoral figure so he played his Daddy’s “reprobate cum holy man” schtick to the political hilt. A political Jimmy Swaggart for the old and fearful who want their GOPe nightlight back so they can go to bed.

The rest of us have work to do.

Lyn’ Ted has made a mess of things, cannot believe you still defend him and personally criticize those of us that have come to see him has a lying sack of s^$t. I know you worked on the campaign, even disclosed this at least once, and should be clear about your continued affiliation, if any, but seriously, Lyn’ Ted LOST. Read that: LOST. He was reputiated, he was defeated, he was rejected. He needs to quit and, as Jim Robinson has stated over and over, his supporters need to stand down.

“Cruz is a liar and a sexual deviant...”

I can stipulate to the first part but where do you get the second?

Perfect description of Lyn' Ted: What resume? He's never accomplished anything...He's a lawyer, BFD they're a dime a dozen.

Yep, lost, lost, lost. As the junior Senator from Texas, he's accomplished NOTHING. He gained his seat via lies about citizenship, lies about campaign money, and lies about his plans. Having previously lived in Texas, knowing lots of Texans, I doubt they will re-elect him. Especially when they see his shifting support and lies about amnesty, increasing H1B by 500%, supporting Obama's TPP and Iran deals, etc. Plus, his reneging on supporting the party nominee and his continued presidential campaign and convention scheming. Bet he couldn't get elected as dog catcher. Oh, that lawyer thingy he did, argued against sex toys, worried about what went on in bedrooms. Wow, impressive.

You guys out there in CA are doing such a great job at electing conservatives. I suggest you clean up your own house before giving Texans advice.

As a Constitutionalist and small government supporter, I liked when Cruz presented himself the same way. But I wished he could do a better job of speaking to average, non-intellectual voters (such as myself) without sounding condescending. Can’t get the message across if listeners have to de-code it.

As a Christian, however, his preachy holier-than-thou-ness utterly turned me off. That’s when he lost me. Somebody needs to tell this guy, there’s no need to preach to the choir. If he’s walking the walk, Christians will see it. If he’s just talking the talk, everybody will see.
