The lyrics to O Canada will be a hot topic in Ottawa on Tuesday, even though the July 1 fireworks are still a month away.
The House of Commons is debating an effort by dying Liberal Mauril Belanger to render the national anthem gender-neutral, by replacing the line in the English version “in all thy sons command” with “in all of us command.”

Canucks are a bit slow (bless their hearts). The Australian government emasculated their anthem in 1984 (nice touch of irony there).

Maybe they could just alternately use some of the new pronouns, ze, hir, hen, mx, etc. It would be much easier to make things rhyme if you had a few dozen choices.

Belanger can get his constituents in hell to sing it however he wants. The Canadian anthem is beautiful the way it was written, is NOT broken so leave it unfixed.
