BANGKOK A Thai man is recovering from a bloody encounter with a 10-foot python that slithered through the plumbing of his home and latched its jaws onto his penis as he was using a squat toilet.

In an example of white privilege bias, the writer assumes that the toilet has plumbing. The highest probability is that it is a pit toilet that is squatted over rather than a the squatting version of an American-style flush toilet. So snakes are probably more common than we know because we just don’t hear about them until someone gets bitten in the junk.
