More than 700 people are killed in road accidents across China every day, according to the World Health Organisation.
The WHO estimates that traffic accident claim about 260,000 deaths on the mainland each year, of which with 60 per cent are vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
Chinas drive for better road safety is starting to pay dividends but it still has a way to go(
The increasing use of electric bikes in urban areas in China for courier delivering has become a new concern for road safety with the development of e-business, experts admit.
He Yong, deputy president of the research institute of highways at the Ministry of Transportation, said the central government was considering whether to categorise e-bikes as bicycles or vehicles, where different rules will apply.
But banning e-bikes is not be the answer, He said. Rather, reining in bad drivers should be the main priority.
The Geneva-based UN body said traffic accidents were among the top 10 causes of death in the world and the leading cause of death for people aged from 15 to 29.

During the early days of Mao, there was a joke making the rounds that all we had to do to end the Chinese threat was to give every Chinaman a motorcycle.
They would kill each other.
Not only that, but in China, if you get hit by a car, the f***ers will make sure you’re dead by running over you a few more times. It’s cheaper, since under their law, they would be responsible for caring for you for life if you ended up a cripple. So if they hit you by accident, they’ll back up and run you over again. Lots of videos of this phenomena.
Trying. Not. To. Stereotype.
OMG.....better get rid of cars
LMAO!
... if you ended up a cripple.”
You mean ambulatory challenged? Pullease let’s show some PCness in our phraseology.
Ever see a Chinese F-1 driver ? lol
Yep, I’d believe it. A billion + chinese drivers all riding on the same roads. 700 is low number.
A million a could die in accidents in one day. What’s a million Chinese?
Unlike Taiwan the mainland basically went directly from bicycles to automobiles. And they drive as if they’re still pedaling two wheelers. No lanes, no signals, just a weaving mass of moving steel and rubber.
Another good reason to avoid travel to backward third world fascist states. This includes both China and California.
700 traffic deaths per day sounds outrageous until you factor China’s huge population of 1.357 billion people. China’s actual traffic death RATE (18.8 per 100,000) is almost identical to Russia’s (18.9), and while high by our standards (10.6 in USA) it pales in comparison to most African and Middle Eastern countries. Europe’s traffic death rates are the lowest, of course, but our European cousins are risk-averse pussies and will soon be ruled by their Muslim invaders.
not much....260,000 killed a year is only .019% of the 1.36 billion population.
Out of 1.4 billion, that’s about 0.07 %.
omigosh

True, but you have to figure in how many cars there are. I’m guessing—700.
LOL
“the mainland basically went directly from bicycles to automobiles.”
Correct! Here we all grew up with cars. Big difference. I have many Chinese immigrant friends, and they aren’t the best drivers, although many of them are very cautious drivers. If we’re going anywhere, they always want me to drive.
700 per day? No problem, they have population to spare!
