EgyptAir flight MS804: Pilot spoke with air traffic control 'for several minutes before crash'
Couldn’t pull up the article.....what did he say?
French TV station claims pilot reported smoke in front part of plane and decided to reduce altitude to be able to depressurize plane and clear smoke.
No sources apart from the YV channel given.

Apparently Egyptian authorities have not passed this information on to the French who arrived to help. The Egyptians said the pilot told the ground he had smoke and was going to descend and depressurize the plane to clear it.
The Egyptians have a vested interest in this not being a Jihadi suicide. My guess is they will keep the black boxes secret if they don’t back whatever story they generated. Nobody will be able to independently verify the Egyptian story.
The timeline indicates that the incident occurred just as the changeover was supposed to happen from Greek air traffic control to Egypt ATC. That’s the same as what happened with the lost MAS370 flight. That’s another hint the pilot(s) did it.
Supposedly the pilot was talking with Egyptian air traffic control for several minutes before the crash about smoke in the cockpit and the forward area of the main cabin. This contradicts Egypt’s claim that the pilot had not declared an emergency. It also contradicts terrorism claims. Not sure how credible it is.

As a general rule of thumb if a plane crashes and there are Muslims aboard, I assume a Muslim caused it.

On May 20th 2016 The Aviation Herald received information from three independent channels, that ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System) messages with following content were received from the aircraft:
00:26Z 3044 ANTI ICE R WINDOW
00:26Z 561200 R SLIDING WINDOW SENSOR
00:26Z 2600 SMOKE LAVATORY SMOKE
00:27Z 2600 AVIONICS SMOKE
00:28Z 561100 R FIXED WINDOW SENSOR
00:29Z 2200 AUTO FLT FCU 2 FAULT
00:29Z 2700 F/CTL SEC 3 FAULT
no further ACARS messages were received.
Early May 21st 2016 the French BEA confirmed there were ACARS messages just prior to break down of communications warning however that they are insufficient to understand the causes of the accident until flight data or cockpit voice recorders have been found. Priority as of current is to find the wreckage and the recorders.
On May 21st 2016 Airbus confirmed all ACARS messages above as authentic and explained the “ANTI ICE R WINDOW” message was triggered by the Window Heat Computer #2 as well as the related 2 maintenance messages corresponding to the temperature sensors of the 2 right cockpit windows. The two smoke messages were triggered by their respective optical detectors. Airbus stated: “With the limited data available, the analysis of these messages does not allow to establish the sequence of events that would explain the loss of flight MS804. Pending more data become available (in particular flight data recorders and aircraft parts), Airbus has no specific recommendation to raise at this stage of the investigation.”

Fox news played a small portion of the tape this morning. Nothing amiss.
Pilot may have gone to front bathroom to place device which started smoke/fire. Comes back to cockpit and when alarms go off, sends other pilot to check it out. Locks cockpit and begins descent, screaming Alibaba Snackbar. Other pilot comes back and fight for control begins.
Egypt is going to lose a big source of income if pilot intentionally crashed plane so may try to cover up what really happened.

Doesn’t work with the ACARS reporting timeline - fire was first detected inside the bulkhead under/around the right front windows. Check the timeline (I’ve annotated it):

00:26Z 2600 SMOKE LAVATORY SMOKE - Smoke detected in the lavatory. The front lav on an A320 is one the *left* side of the aircraft. It shares the back wall of the cockpit on the left side.
00:27Z 2600 AVIONICS SMOKE - Smoke detected in the avionics bay which IIRC is under the floor of the cockpit.
00:28Z 561100 R FIXED WINDOW SENSOR - right side cockpit window sensor has detected elevated temperatures when the computer was not expecting to see them.
00:29Z 2200 AUTO FLT FCU 2 FAULT - Autopilot module 2 has failed, probably due to fire given prior messages.
00:29Z 2700 F/CTL SEC 3 FAULT - Part of main flight controls has failed, probably due to fire given prior messages.
This reads like an underfloor fire.

Gotta hear the tapes of this conversation before I can believe it - direct contradiction to earlier reports by the Egyptians.....
