Reporting from Washington The Department of Homeland Security, positioning itself to cut its losses on a so-called invisible fence along the U.S.- Mexico border, has decided not to exercise a one-year option for Boeing to continue work on the troubled multibillion-dollar project involving high-tech cameras, radar and vibration sensors.

Put up double fence and patrol it 24/7. Make Mexico pay.
Put up double fence and patrol it 24/7. Make Mexico pay.
I see a market for autonomous armed patrol drones here.
Some politicians will probably start playing the virtual fence game just as they played the “I oppose amnesty” word game for years when they had no intention of enforcing immigration law or deporting illegal aliens.
Those who might start advocating a virtual fence will want no border control, just as in the past.
Why ask me, “why post it now”. Will88 posted it and his comment #1 explains why.
I think Obama killed the previous virtual fence, not because it wasn’t working but because it didn’t fit his ideology.
I think we should put back in place what George W had in place and refine it until it works perfectly.
Plus we should have predators (armed or unarmed) in the air at all times on our southern border. They should monitor for active breaches, pending breaches, as well as unusual activity from houses and facilities for 10 miles next to the border. (Think tunnels)
And then we should deploy the Israeli tunnel detection systems and refine them as well.
I’m for both physical and virtual walls. And I’m for impeaching judges that are deliberately sabotaging the system. (Not saying that they are, but a review should be held.)
Question for Anyone:
How do you protect against deep tunnels under the Trump Wall?
Thinly veiled anti wall propaganda?
Jeb: 'Virtual Fence' Can Be 'Quite Effective'
From May 19, 2016
Jeb Bush says Donald Trump's plan for a border wall isn't as feasible as a "virtual fence" that includes technology in areas where the terrain make a wall impossible.
Welll, there it is. Why didn't we think to ask JEB first, because we know if anyone in American is serious about securing the border, it's JEB
A 30 foot high reinforced concrete wall 6 feet thick with a 30 foot deep foundation would take a LONG time to be reduced to tatters.
What is the fence in the background?
I would guess that the Israelis know all about this and we could learn myriads from them.
W needs to pay restitution.
100% border security is not possible. If we could get up to 97% or greater security, that would be satisfactory.
Sonar or similar technology might detect some tunnels, and then we'd have to depend on local law enforcement and the BP to detect strange activity that might indicate a tunnel exit on the US side.
Doubt we'd ever get any help from the Mexican side.
Hire the Isrealis...
We could learn a lot if we can elect a president who desires to learn about effective border security. We haven't had such a president since, I guess, Eisenhower.
“How do you protect against deep tunnels under the Trump Wall?”
Consult with Israel and follow their advice, of course.
Lol, that might be a little too ambitious. Maybe about half those dimensions.
